and it should have been a penalty. They don't usually call it, but they don't usually call illegal jumping on a PAT either. :angryfire o:  :cuss:
Yes but Leinhart pushed him first. :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: Who cares it's over and done with, unlike the LSU/UF game most officials like the game to be decided by the players. Plus on a close call you can bet USC gets the call their way every time, get used to it.
fUSC was in a position similar to LSU!'s last year against Auburn in that both teams were guilty of a minor BS infraction that could change the outcome of their respective games (much more so for fUSC than LSU!). The difference here is that LSU!'s infraction got called and fUSC's did not. It goes to show that a team must have lots of "luck" to win a :crystal:.
Dang I'm glad you said that. I made that statement here a year or so back and lots of people thought I was just trying to downplay LSU's winning the MNC. I think it's true and if you go back and look at the season for most teams who have won it you will see several instances of "luck" coming into play.
.......and then there is Aubarn who had all the luck in the world yet came up empty!!! :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:                  /dheadtiger      :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:
Not to derail the thread, but how in the hell do you have defensive holding on a field goal attempt? Point in case, the Saints game. I don't claim to be a saints fan, not since 89' anyway, but they got screwed by the refs. Refs should be fined some serious money if it is reviewed later and determined that they made a very bad call.
It was the right call as the tactic the Saints used was against the rules. However, it is rarely called. Hasslett said he saw the Falcons using the same tactic on game film the week before and it was not called. He said that's where he got the idea and he implemented it for his field goal defense this week. He said that during the post-game interview on WWL by the way. He knew it was not exactly legal, yet he did it anyways. So, if anyone is to fault it is him for trying to get away with it. Cheaters never win! On the other hand, some consistency would be nice on the part of the officials. In the case of the USC game, that's exactly what we got was consistency. That always happens, on countless plays, in each and every game. It is very rarely called and I would certainly not have expected it to have been called there. ND - Do not give up a 4th and 9 and you would not be in that position! Does that sound familiar to anyone here from last season.....? However, the officials in the Saints game this past weekend and the Aubarn game last year were inconsistent by making calls that are rarely made, yet probably could be made quite frequently. Consistency is what we need most from the officials!
The shame of it is that Haslett will be the one fined for calling the penalty what it was : chicken sheet!
