1. Lately everyone has been kinda feeling unsure about LSU's offense cause of the recent qb debates. Something I noticed in Saturday's game was how open our receivers seemed to get. I know that Russell needs work on his accuracy and timing, but that doesn't change the fact that Bowe, Davis, Carter, and Doucet all got wide open all day long. Remember the many passes that were simply thrown too low and the pass that was behind Doucet? This is a great testament to our receivers abilities to get open, even though most are freshmen. This gives me great hope for our offense's future. Russell's timing will come with time, but once it does come around, he will have 2 or 3 options everytime he hikes the ball. We will soon have an offense to match our defense.

We will soon be a defensive coordinator's worst nightmare. What is a d coordinator to do with Bowe, Carter, Doucet, and Davis all on the same field. Who do you put your best DB on???? It's futile to say this, but If Mauck or Rohan had been playing last Saturday, we would have easily hung 30 to 40 points on Auburn. Our receivers were open all day long. :geaux:
  2. Let's not say hikes. Let's say snaps. :thumb:
  3. I was about to make a topic about the WR's, but since this was made I'll post what I was going to say here:

Does anyone else think that Skyler Green should just return to his role last year as a return specialist and a 3rd WR in the slot? Davis and Bowe have done more than enough to earn starting positions. Skyler would still make a dangerous down field threat, plus he wouldn't be as tired for returns, which is where his greatest value is IMO.
  4. With Bowe, Davis, Carter, and Doucet stepping up, I do believe that Green should see minimal playing time at receiver. You're right, his value does lie in his return game and I believe that Bowe and Davis are a bit better at receiving at this point.
  5. Excellent point there IotT, and I dont mind if you hike.:)
  6. Absolutely. I even said it last year. Green just does not have the size to be an outside receiver. He is a very talented athlete that has been sorely missed from our offense, but he is still a role player.

Hey Sabanfan, how about you hike up them britches and go wade through the flood of QB posts. They need you. :D
  7. Good points. But I think the reason Green was so valuable last season on O was because the defenses we faced were so concerned with stopping Clayton and Henderson, so Green saw limited coverage. I'm not sure Bowe, Davis, Carter, or Early can force the other teams to be that concerned, at least to the point that Green would have the same kind of freedom as last year. If Green is on the field, he will be covered by one of the better DBs on the other team. In turn though, that may open up the coverage on Davis, Carter, Bowe, or Early.

Either way Green is a valuable return man, but we certainly need him on O. It never hurts to have as many threats as possible for the QB to throw to. And I have to admit . . . right now I have more confidence in a healthy Green beating defenders and making solid catches than any of the younger guys (although from what I've seen Bowe is damn good).
  8. IMO, that would be a big mistake for a team to put their best DB on Green. Even though Green is the most experienced of all the receivers, I think Bowe is the biggest threat we have at receiver. Very Clayton like.
