Let’s start back up here to be productive. One of the ideals you’re referring to, I presume, is equality (unless you want to say that equality is not an American ideal). Kneeling was done in furtherance of equality. So, the kneelers were preserving and defending an American ideal, just like you say such ideals should be preserved. So it looks like we agree after all.
So to you the flag is an "inanimate object"? So the Michael Brown fraud started this kneeling crap and was proved to be an out and out lie. So much a lie even that scumbag Eric Holder had to agree. If to you the American flag is just and inanimate object there is no hope for you. Yet another useful idiot of the left.
So presumably you concede that the flag and the anthem represent ideals, including equality before the law. If that is true, what is wrong with Brees saying we should respect the flag? FFS if he had been seen at a Klan meeting the reaction wouldn't be much different.
Kiki, I don’t know how else to say this, but try to consider whether a person with an opposing view could be rationale(as much as you love to believe that anyone not supporting your view is just an idiot). Inanimate just means that the flag is lifeless. It doesn’t mean the flag can’t be a symbol for something.
Yes I do agree. Nothing wrong with Brees saying that what the flag stands for should be respected. The problem is that he prioritized respecting what the flag stands for over promoting equality and raising awareness of a lack of equality in certain times and circumstances. What the flag stands for is worthwhile, but it doesn’t take precedence over every other value in life. It’s also a bit contradictory to say that kneeling was disrespectful of the country, if you buy the premise that promoting equality by kneeling serves the American ideal of equality.
