Jim Harrick Sr. Has been fired according to ESPNEWS. The Bulldogs also will NOT be in the SEC Tournament or the NCAA Tournament.
WOW!! Georgia is doing the right thing in firing him now but I feel bad for the players. Of course, if a JC guard was getting cash then what were the stars getting?
Georgia did the right thing but I'm like miked I feel sorry for the current players. I don't see why they hired him in the first place though everywhere he goes there is scandal.
Not to make light of UGA's situation, but will this help get another SEC bubble team in the tourney with UGA's absence?
I'd think that it could only help another SEC team get in. Not in that the committee would just bump every team up one slot but that they could be thinking that the SEC deserves to have the most teams in the tourny because it is the strongest conference.
Academic fraud also with Chris Daniels and Rashard Wright. Harrick is not fired but suspended with pay for the time being.
Georgia should have known better when they hired him, but you do have to respect how quick they have reacted now. EPSN.com implies that he may be fired pretty soon.
this is not good for the SEC matter of fact it is terrible for the SEC. I hate to see this happen and I really feel badly for the UGA players. They are a very talented bunch. This is a sickening situation. I dunno who to be angry with the most - a guy like Harrick, or the NCAA for their ridiculous rules. Compliance with NCAA rules is like compliance with IRS regulations. Sorry, Dog fans. My hope is that the NCAA will not punish you for years like they did to LSU.

This is bad for the SEC, and I don't see why the SEC would get an extra bubble team in now. The tourney will just take the next team in, whether it happens to be a SEC team or not. I think Georgia has made a big mistake removing itself from post-season play. Dooley is overreacting IMO, in part so they could fire Harrick quickly, and I'm going to assume so they won't have to pay his full salary going forward. There's no way all the Georgia players should be punished in this way. It's not right. One of the Georgia BB players says that those who have made the decision to end Georgia's season are doing so to save their jobs. I agree with him.
