I really wish we could air it out to these two guys at least once or twice a game. Like a designed play where two slant receivers go in middle crosses, drawing perhaps a DB off of carter or brazell... and bennie and x-man just take off running waiting for a aired out ball... The Florida touchdown was perfection.... Bennie has got some quick feet... and Jarmarcus has a strong arm to air it out... Am I the only one who fantasizes about seeing these plays? LSU could have 500 yards passing a game if we actually took some chances... and if the ball gets intercepted, oh well! it would be just like a punt.... ugh... thoughts?
I agree. With the speed of this team, there's no way anyone can cover both of these guys if they're in the lineup together; especially if they're in a 4 WR set with Skylar and Bowe. I would love to see them air it out at least twice a game, but what do I know? I'm just an armchair quarterback/offensive coordinator/head coach.
I have seen them run plays with them going deep, but it is usually covered. In the Alabama game when JR threw that nice pass to Bowe on the drive when we got a field goal for instance. Xavier Carter was running a fly but he was covered pretty well. Pretty sure Russell looked to Carter first then went to Bowe.
These guys are very very fast, but you'd be suprised about how far that doesn't take a WR. It's very tough for them to seperate even with their speed.
The one 3rd down Brazelle catch against Bama in the 4th was just awesome, where i believe he lined up in the slot then he just looped out to the sideline, the DB had no chance at all, and Russell just threw it in perfectly for the big gain, that is where speed is killer. we need to see more of those type plays
I would love to see one play where the X-Man just takes off and JRock just throws a bomb to him. Whether he catches it or not, it will definitely be fun to watch. I just hope he'll catch it.
I too wish these games were played on a PlayStation, but alas, they're not. Look at the track stars the Raiders have had over the years and just how far that has gotten them.
not sure why we as LSU fans need to fantasize about plays that actually could easily be reality les miles won't air it out....at least not until next season but you are exactly right in thinking that we should air it out at least once at a minimum, and as many as 2 or 3 times a game....long passes such as this don't get intercepted anymore often than short or medium range passes...so I don't get the logic that JR would suddenly throw all these interceptions if he "took a chance" going deep like Ramah said...grow some testicles
Miles has aired it out. Several times. To both Benny & Carter. Most of them haven't been caught. So what does it accomplish?
