With 8 minutes plus left in the game, Duke up by 5.

Duke misses a three and CBS announcer makes the comment that "had that shot went down it may have been the dagger for LSU"

I laughed my ass off when I heard that. No way in hell a team can make up 8 points on the mighty Dookies with only 8 minutes left in the game.:dis:

    Oh well, all ended well.

I also thought at the time that the comment was ridiculously premature. Glad it wasn't just me.

Since it was Dick Enberg, i'm surprised he didn't say "Oh My"

being at the game.. i agree with the comment that was made by Bilis... we were reeling and Duke had huge mo after making 3 dunks in a row.... I think we would have had a tough time coming back after that if JJ had made it.

I totally agreed with the announcer. Like Jeff said we were losing momentum big time. Being down 8 would have been hard to come back from. I suppose it was a bit over the top because we still would have had a chance, but that would have really hurt.

It was more of a momentum thing, not saying LSU couldn't make up an 8 point difference.

I guess that it's just, to me, a "dagger" is the shot or play that makes a comeback absolutely insurmountable, like say, a shot that puts you up by 7 with 10 seconds left to play. It's all semantics.

well, right after jj's miss, darrel went down and hit a 3, so if jj had made the 3 LSU would have been down 5 instead of 2. not that big of a deal. unless you think darrel would have been psyched out of hitting the subsequent 3.

which would reflect on the momentum argument.
