I don't know about that. Each game is different and has different characteristics and nuances. I think before you can make a statement like that, we need to see what LSU does against ARK ST. tomorrow. If LSU has a poor outing against ARK ST., I'll be more inclined to agree with you.
I've never bought into that theory. It might be true. I don't know. I just have never agreed with that statement. You play a game every week, and you have a week to rest and get ready for the next game. A lot of Sooner fans worry about OU's next match after the OU/Texas game because of that theory. Not trying to flame the Tigers. Just giving my opinion.
I am aware of that, but by the same token, you can't take OSU's follow-up game and infer a meaning from that regarding their past game. You just can't do that. Apples and oranges. That was my point.
I dunno...If it wouldnt of rained it would of been a different game...I dont think the tight ends for for Oregon State would of caught so many balls....I mean hey Kuale and Vaughn arent any normal tight ends....there freakin fast and our whole defense is fast the rain slowed us down on all sides of the ball but hey we won and lets win tomorrow and get ready for Auburn.
Let's not forget that OSU had months to game plan for LSU. They did a pretty good job on coaching with some notable exceptions. LSU did not look good and may not have taken the Beavers seriously. This kind of funky stuff happens. That's why you judge a team based on its season, not just one game.
The problem that I see with this statement is the following: 1) We have a new qb and wr's this year. I don't think that you can show me one new qb and a group of wr's that are able to move the ball down the field on a regular basis until they have had a chance to play together and its really hard to simulate game speed. Some of the wr's have NO experience in college football. I'm disappointed in Randall because he had mop up duties last year and he just didn't look like a senior out there last Saturday nite. 2) It was our offenses first time playing with each other during a real game. 3) I think the defense played as well as any could in their first game of the season. I don't think you can blame the coaches for part of the problem, we will have to try and be patient with this offense until things are better. Having said that I think that JR could be the answer, Randall just didn't show me anything out there last Saturday nite, he certainly didn't play like a senior or a guy who saw action 2 years ago and mop up duties last year. Part of that could be because of new wr's except for Skyler Green. Thats why the coaches make the big bucks, to figure this mess out and fix things. btw, Look at what our offense did last year and other teams as well when they have returning starters with experience together. The difference is night and day.
The "since they beat the same team we beat by more than we did so they must be better than us" arguement doesn't hold water with me (I know you aren't saying Boise St is better than us). If we played on a dry field, it wouldn't have been nearly as close. Plus what game are you more likely to bring your A game for, defending champion LSU or Boise St?
No one doubts that LSU had a poor game and could have, perhaps should have lost. But lets not forget that LSU left 27 ponts on the field while OSU left 10 points on the field. The game was what it was, but it could have had a whole lot of different endings.
