Does anybody know for sure whether Bob Stoops has a clause in his contract to be paid equal to the highest paid coach in America?

If so, he is due a big raise with Saban being hired at the reported salary.

I bet Oklahoma's athletic department is not too happy about the happenings today!

Interesting point you raise, I'm not certain but think I remember a "$1.00 more" thingy.

Seems that that's what Saban got when he won it all, $1.00 more than Stoops who was the highest paid at the time.

Saban's new contract calls for a moving van parked in front of his house 24/7 so when the midnight run takes place his family will be ready. Go TIGERS!!

Irrespective of Stoops, I think AD's across the land are hoping they retire before facing another coaching search.

This amount of money for hiring a new coach is a bad omen for college football. With the proliferation of "$1 more than" contracts, there might really be some hyperinflation pretty quickly. The best thing for the sport would be for Saban to fail hard and fast.

Maybe I am wrong, but I thought that it was a clause that went into effect only of the team of said coach won the NC, and it was then a one time thing for that NC.

The real winners are USC, Michigan, Notre Dame and Ohio State. With Saban at Alabama that will make the SEC even tougher to win in. Having an undefeated team - or even an 11-1 season - was tough enough. Now it just got tougher. The chances for an SEC national champion just took a nose dive.

I understand your point, but tOSU plays UM, ND plays USC, UM plays ND... they dont necessarily have it easy in terms of getting to the title game... Easier than the SEC? - probably...
    Easy? Nope

It was Saban who had the $1 more than the highest paid coach clause, not Stoops.

Saban and his agent Sexton are the two biggest price gougers in college football right now--and their failure would make many an AD breathe a sigh of relief.

I, for one, applaud Bertman for NOT paying Saban enough to stay here. He either wanted to be LSU's coach or not--money won't keep the man anywhere. He's a ho.
