I like Bob all he does is talk about how great LSU is all night. Any other announcer wouldnt talk that good about us.
My favorite moment was when Bob Davie kept calling for Auburn to use a timeout and Ron Franklin had to point out they were out of them. Ron also goat my goat with his incessant need to give the game an instant nickname.
He really grates on my nerves. With the way he spaces his words out it seems like he has to really think about what he's saying. Not a very natural color man, plus doesn't seem to offer a lot of insight for a former coach.
Also -- how about Ron Franklin needing to correct him on the proper use of the English language -- "asterisk" NOT "asterick." :geauxtige
at least it wasn't Shaun McDonaugh, that guy is the armpit of all announcers. I was relieved to see Bob Davie!
Besides "asterisk", I also remember that when the refs lined up the players wrong to signify the result of the coin flip (had LSU defending the North endzone - with their backs to it - rather than beginning OT with possession). Ron began to speculate whether Miles had erred. Bob chimes that it is "obvious" that Miles was choosing the North endzone because of the student section. He totally missed Ron's point. Ron simply replied "well, yes. Obviously". Quite deadpan. Both seemed terrible tonight, but Davie really struck me as being a dullard. Very distracting.
Sean may not be best, but any announcer that calls a national championship game for LSU i wouldn't call the worst. I remember he was the announcer on the Warren Morris homer to win the college world series. If I'm not mistaken it was "LSU has won the college world series on a home run by Warren Morris". Ron Franklin is hands down the best college football announcer. Vern Lundquist is probably number 2 IMO.
