I pump grease into my buddy bearings every other trip and change the oil in my lower unit every year. I change spark plugs every other year. The boat itself, just keep it clean.
let my dad borrow it once or twice a year. dude will do maintenance that's not even due, just because he's bored.
:thumb: That was my dad. Neighbors were eager to let him borrow a tractor or a flatbed truck, it always went home lubed and with an oil change. When I visited home, I'd shake his hand in the kitchen and then he'd go outside and start tinkering with my truck right away. I have a photo of his two legs sticking out from under my truck with both of his walking sticks leaning against the bumper. 85 years old and he was crawling under the truck looking for a brake fluid leak.
Depeneds on the motor really, outboards require a lot less maintenance than in boards or stern drives like I have. I just make sure I drain all the water out of the block before winter comes. If I miss a plug like I did one year you find out about it when you start your boat the next summer and old faithful is spewing from your engine cover. I change the oil, oil filter and lower unit oil every year as well as the fuel filter.
