http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/football/ncaa/12/17/bc.fbc.nebraskastaff.ap/index.html Congrats to Bo Pelini on a coaching staff Nebraska fans should love. I forgot he had an older brother in coaching.
Pelini said he had also chosen a running backs coach, but won't announce who it is until the coach finishes duties for his current team's bowl game. hummmmm
I seriously doubt it's Larry Porter but if LSU did lose him, that would be a major blow to the coaching staff.
What I'm hearing is it will be Florida RB Coah Stan Drayton. Bo worked with him while they were both with the Packers.
Looks like an "ok" bunch. I wish him luck. I hope that he can create a balance of power in that conference, (meaning the two sides of the conference; I think it is East Texas and West Texas...I really don't keep up with division 3 very much).
It's a position that's not always handled like the NFL--where it's a coaches ONLY thing. In college, usually a position coach also happens to be the ST's coordinator. Derek Dooley was our RB's coach AND special teams coordinator--but he was primarily referred to as the RB coach....you almost had to be a close follower of LSU to know he was also the special teams coach. Peveto was brought here as a "special teams coordinator" first and foremost...and coached LB's (DB's this season), but in title, Peveto was primarily listed as a STC.
I hope he does well. I would like to see Nebraska recapture their former greatness and give the Big 12 another top team again. Those fans are too good to suffer through a season like this past one.
A lot of coaches tied to a former head coach who got fired. Wonder if the powers that be at Nebraska think maybe running off Solich was a little premature?
