    * Jimbo Fisher LSU
    * Stacy Searles LSU
    * Charlies Harbison UA
    * Kevin Steele FSU LBs
    * Tom Clements QB Packers
    * Bobby Williams Dolphins

    I haven't heard anything official, but this was reported on another board... IMHO, Jimbo should take the FSU job. I really don't see him going to Bama. Also this was the first I've heard about Searles leaving.

    Steele has already signed on board.

    Steele leaving FSU for Bama.

    Shortly after he joined Florida State's staff in 2003 there has been one job opportunity after another for Kevin Steele. The Seminoles' Executive Head Coach and Linebackers Coach turned all of them down, even some that would have put him back in the NFL and dramatically increased his salary.

    Steele has been one of FSU's top recruiters since he joined the staff in 2003. That changed on Thursday. Warchant.com has confirmed that Steele accepted an offer to join Nick Saban's staff with Alabama.

    In the past, the 48-year old coach resisted other job offers because he had two children in high school in Tallahassee. However, his son has since graduated and his daughter is set to graduate this spring.

    In addition to an undisclosed increase in salary, Steele will be promoted to a defensive coordinator position with the Crimson Tide.

    During his four-year tenure at Florida State, Steele developed several talented linebackers including 2006 top 10 draft pick Ernie Sims, and future NFLers Buster Davis and Lawrence Timmons. He also earned a reputation as an outstanding recruiter earning Rivals.com's National Recruiter of the Year in February of 2005 for his efforts in helping FSU secure a top signing class.

    Even before Steele's decision, there was rampant speculation that former NC State head coach Chuck Amato, who coached at FSU from 1982-99, would be returning to Tallahassee. With Steele's departure, the possibility of Amato coming back is probably even stronger.

    Florida State Sports Information Director Rob Wilson confirmed that coach Steele has resigned and is headed to Alabama. He informed Bobby Bowden of intentions this morning. Steele will issue a release through FSU later today.

    Not surprised that Jimbo would leave but never thought he would leave to work with Saban, much less for a job other than as a head coach. In retrospect, it would seem that Jimbo not getting the UAB job may have been planned. I seem to recall that the Alabama board pulled the plug on the Jimbo hire. Would make sense that they would not want Jimbo at UAB if the plan were to hire Saban and hire Jimbo as a package to try and repeat history. Considering how soon so many assistants, etc have given resignations, certainly looks like this has been something in the works before just this week.

    [FONT=verdana, arial, helvetica] The university of Ala. Board of Trustees are the ones who control who gets hired as the head coach of UAB. Well UAB and it's boosters came up with a total of 600k that they could pay Jimbo Fisher per year for like 4-5 years (don't know exact number)

    Eventhough UAB came up with the money themselves through boosters etc. the Board of Trustees still would not ok the hire. They pulled the same stuff a little earlier when UAB tried to hire Rick Neuhisel(sp)

    Now the same Board of Trustees that looks over UAB is the same one that is over the university of Ala. However when UAT went after Saban the same board of trustees had no problem ok'ing the millions to NS. I don't know if they are scared of UAB becoming somebody, but that is crap to ok it for one school and shoot it down, under the same circumstances for the other. Paul Bryant Jr. is the head of the board of trustees too, but I am sure that had nothing to do with it of course. :yelwink2:

    It may take some time but the full measure of the planning that took place while Saban was allegedly not going to be the Alabama coach will eventually surface. Too much is happening too quickly for the decision to have just been made. Time will tell.

    I just can't believe this?:yelwink2:
    And I can't believe that Nick Saban would intentionally put off his decision
    to the same day as the Sugar Bowl and then fly to Alabama.:nope:
    It all couldn't have been planned that well?:dis:

    Saban can put together the dream team just like OJ did but lets face it.
    He still has to play the Auburn, LSU and Florida's of the world.
    There is no way his super staff can win any more games than Shula did
    last year.
    It aint going to happen.:nope:
    Bring it on!:grin:

    Our respected poster from bama, Terry, said it was a done deal several weeks ago and as hard as it is to believe think about it....it sure makes sense and he was adamant about "Knowing" Saban would end up at Bama and he was right. I think if the whole, true story came out he'd be run out of Bama.......especially for sliding UAB out of a quality coach who may end up at Bama too.

    Likewise, it was also reported that Bama was willing to conceed to all of Saban's demands including staff size and salaries for his assistants which would seem to explain why Jimbo would leave....although a lateral move in terms of being an OC, he will make more money and he is not happy with Miles overruling his play calling. I will be very surprised if Jimbo does not leave!

    I have heard that Fisher and Searles are both going to Alabama. Fisher would be much better off taking the OC job at FSU. In a couple of years he could be HC there.
