Guys, it looks like Petrino will coach his last game as a Louisville Cardinal in the Liberty Bowl tomorrow night. Insider, very reliable, Terry Mieners wrote a scathing article. Sounds like Petrino handled the situation very poorly. I am glad that Skip and the board got to see what a snake Petrino really is. Mieners (Pitino butt boy) indicate that Petrino may be heading to Syracuse. Burned his bridges, the “Dirty Bird” faithful are pissed and his AD does not trust him one bit. It is a damn shame; Petrino had a great thing going, a UK fan admitting that the Cards own the state in football. UK is off of the probation and making major strides in the recruiting war. Still, Petrino had the path to the BCS bowl. Oh well, that I would share this, but sounds like Petrino is out of the running for the Tigers job, thank goodness!

Found the ollowing on a UL site, enjoy:

Louisville, Ky. --- What if University of Louisville football coach Bobby Petrino is not offered the head coaching job at LSU? Some in Louisiana are saying that other candidates are ahead of Petrino on LSU’s list, and that officials in Louisiana have soured on the U of L coach for his ham-fisted handling of various employment issues.

LSU pushed for an early meeting with Petrino, who could’ve simply responded with, “I get off work next Friday night. Call me then.”

Recruits for both schools are left scratching their heads, U of L fans are steaming, and Petrino’s boss may be speaking in code.

Many suspect that, regardless of LSU’s ultimate hiring decision, Bobby Petrino will be coaching his last game for the Cardinals on Friday. U of L athletics director Tom Jurich gave a curt, unemotional introduction of Petrino at the Liberty Bowl Awards Banquet yesterday. Moments earlier, Jurich said from the stage that Boise State coach Dan Hawkins had done a “great job” and then noted “the loyalty he’s shown that university.”

    Ouch.

Jurich is not one to embrace a repeat violator in matters of trust. He stood up for Petrino after the football coach lied about meeting with officials from Auburn last year. Jurich dismissed the clandestine negotiation as a foolish misstep by a “young coach.”

Petrino, 43, is another year older and apparently not a bit wiser. LSU officials aren’t necessarily sold on Petrino. With a #1 recruiting class and capital improvements, they’re just bulldozing ahead with their plans to shut down further recruiting leakage.

Petrino looks like he’s the star on “Amateur Hour.” During a week that should be devoted to his players’ hard work, Petrino has shown that he has zero public relations skills by openly slobbering over a potential Bayou Bengal job.

Now with the game at hand, Petrino is inching toward the end of a glorious season with U of L, a Top Ten ranking, a stacked team heading into the Big East Conference, and yet he may find himself unemployed by Sunday.

There is more than one office bet that Petrino’s agent has already contacted Syracuse University for its just-vacated football coaching job.

Smell the irony. Petrino sniffs the LSU job, doesn’t get it, loses his sweet gig in Louisville for repeated coveting of other jobs, and then winds up coaching in the Big East where another masterful selection by Tom Jurich takes his new Cardinals team up to Syracuse to squeeze the Orange dry.

sounds like some bitter UL people letting emotions get the best of them.

  4. This is if Norm Chow doesnt end up getting the Syracuse gig. That would suck for Petrino. Foe Sho

Yep... I saw on another forum that when they announced him as CUSA coach of the year he was boo'd by his own people....

I was thinking yesterday about that though... Him not getting the job and basically not having anywhere to go because they don't want him back... He's really got his balls in a salad shooter if this were to turn the wrong way...

I don't think you can compare a coach that's currently at a mid-major school (although truth me told and shown, that his team is anything but "mid-major") snooping around for a bigger thing, to a coach that gets the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Meaning due to conference constraints, there's only so high up Louisville can go. But if Petrino is here, he's at the top of the foodchain (BCS school--major conference) and doesn't need to be tempted to look elsewhere.

Insider he may be, but this guy comes across as almost blinded by his dislike for Petrino.

He says, "LSU pushed for an early meeting with Petrino, who could’ve simply responded with, “I get off work next Friday night. Call me then.”

YEAH, RIGHT! If it is so wrong for a coach to interview for an open job the week before their bowl game, then Skip should have said last Sunday, "We understand that it is inappropriate to contact any college coaches until after the bowls, so we'll sit tight until after the 1st."

Get real. Petrino's agent contacts LSU. LSU contacts Jurich. Jurich gives permission for the interview. When asked about the interview earlier in the week, Petrino says, "We spoke, nothing was decided, and don't ask me about this again until after Friday's game."

WTF else did you expect him to do? If LSU is by far the best, legit coaching opportunity he's ever had available to him, he's not gonna voluntarily sit out the first week of what LSU has openly stated could be a search period as short as 7 days in length!

This guy's red with anger and is letting it cloud his judgement. Call a spade a spade and slam Petrino for interviewing a week or so after agreeing to an "enhanced" contract and saying he wasn't going anywhere (though he made that comment before the LSU job was open); don't slam the guy for "ham handedly" handling the events of the past few days because, frankly, he's done nothing wrong.

If this is true, what a bunch of BS. Skip asks this guy to interview this week and then when he does Skip gets turned off because Bobby complied with Skip's request or because the Louisville media is upset. If this were true, I would be very concerned about Skip's professionalism and judgment but I don't think it is true.

As a UK fan, I am happy, As a LSU fan, I am worried

Miener does the Rick Pitino show on radio (WHAS). He is very much in the loop. I am surprised that Mieners would come out with guns smoking. Guys, if Petrino’s own fans and administrators turned on him now, how can we bring him on board to the LSU Football program? I am telling you, UK fans saw through him, UL fans are starting to see what we saw, he is a back stabbing snake. Leaves or stays at UL, the damage is done, advantage for UK in recruiting. Joker Phillips and Brooks have already swept in on some recruits and got some major verbal, the tides are switching in UK favors. Trust me when I say this, UK will make major improvements, we had no numbers and injuries. The freshman and sophomores were a major force in the lineup.

LSU is better without Petrino on the Death Valley sidelines. Move on from this guy Skip, go get Del Rio!
