http://espn.go.com/ncf/news/2003/0814/1596202.html Is it only a matter of time until all of Div. I-A adopts replay?
I hope not. The replay in the NFL sucks. With the whole "undeniable evidence" thing, you rarely see officals over turn calls that are clearly wrong. Usually when they do over turn a call, it's borderline. I like College ball the way it is!
Replays shouldn't be allowed to proliferate and slow down the game. But, 1 or 2 plays where the game is on the line is OK by me. We have the technology, why not use it?
TigerStripe Rules!! "We tried it against Bama three years ago and it worked great " Very few things said on this or any other board make me laugh out loud, but that cracked me up.
I hope they don't use that crap in college! I mean, c'mon! If they make that the norm in college, then every school will need to upgrade their fascilities (not that that matters to us--because we have the money to do it), but to the smaller schools, there's no way...They'll need a jumbo-tron or the like (not everyone has one)...and THEN they'll need a TV crew--not all schools are easily accessable. Half of I-A teams will lose a boatload--changing the college landscape tramendously!!! I vote "NO"! These athletes aren't professional--so let the call that was made stand as is--unless over-turned via meeting of the officials. Keep college football the way it is--great!
I would be in favor of instant replay in Conference Championships and Bowl Games as facilities would already be set up for it. I agree with Boston Bengal that many school's would not be able to afford or have the facilities to do so.
I'm a little torn on this topic. I agree I don't want to slow down a 3.5 hour game even more, but OTOH I hate to get screwed on a bad call. I think 1 challenge plus automatic review in the last 2 or 3 minutes of the game might be alright. That's assuming they actually get the call right after they review, which is the other problem with using instant replay.
I would like to see them do it if they could do it any better than the way it works in the NFL. It won't ever happen for all games because unlike the NFL not all college football games are televised (except for Notre Dame)
