    dude could cover, people take a small sample and run with, by the logic Claiborne or Peterson couldnt cover (W. Virginia and Penn St)

    Tennessee used him like a rag....2 long pass completions and a 15 yard pass interference penalty. That was with a BACKUP QB since Bray didn't even play in the game.

    kid from Tennessee beat him once and he was beat bad in the Bama game. Go back to the cotton bowl against Texas AM and tell me he cant cover.

    You can't teach the ball skills and instincts the kid has, and very few even in the NFL have them. He's a great blitzer, return man, he can cover (maybe not the best press cover guy but that doesn't mean he couldn't play safety). They can find a role for him in the NFL if he shows he can put this in his past.

    Said this a long time ago and completely still believe it. Mathieu wasn't even the 2nd best corner guy last season for LSU as far as PASS COVERAGE. Claiborne everyone admits was better but I think Simon was way above Mathieu in cover skills.

    2 long pass completions against him in the TN game and a 15 yard pass interference penalty against him. He was toast in that game because he got burned so badly. And that was by Rogers I think who was younger than Mathieu was in experience.
