The official announcements won't come until Sunday, but barring a major change in attitude, the Rose Bowl is ready to have its first SEC team in Pasadena since Alabama in 1946.

Although there was some sentiment for a Notre Dame-Michigan game -- they are the two winningest teams in college football history and Notre Dame hasn't been in the Rose Bowl since 1925 -- the prospect of the third- and fourth-ranked teams playing each other also was appealing. "The BCS in general doesn't like rematches," Dorger said. The BCS can overrule a bowl's initial decision, with a rematch being a possible reason.
