http://www.foxsports.com/content/view?contentId=2015780 This gentleman (in "Gutsiest Decisions, Part II" - scroll down) heaps praise upon those coaches "courageous" enough to buck the BCS/Coaches' alliance. He then makes an assocation to the Berlin Wall. East Berliners, after making it through field of razor wire, past the armed guard towers, would have to scale the wall and leap into the river to cross over into West Berlin. Maybe they drowned, maybe they got shot, maybe they were caught and beaten to death. Maybe they made it to freedom. Oh yeah - that's EXACTLY how college football works. Spineless, gutless bastard. It's not clever, it's not funny, and I'm disgusted. Nice to be able to write whatever you want in a free press, eh comrade?
Just more proof that USC's "title" wasn't really earned on the field, but rather was bestowed upon them by a pack of assclowns looking to make a statement. And that makes it an empty "crown". Look at it this way...we have the trophy that actually signifies the National Champion, according to the system everybody (including USC) agreed upon. This means that even USC, whether they like it or not, has to acknowledge us as the TRUE National Champion, and that their dinky AP trophy means about as much as a trophy from Dunkel or any of the other services that awards a "national championship". In short, it's a national championship by Ole Miss standards. The writers and coaches bitching about the BCS are the ones who brought this controversy upon us themselves. If they had done the RIGHT thing after Oklahoma's 35-7 ass-kicking at the hands of K-State, and dropped the Sooners to #4 or 5 in their polls (damn whether or not Michigan had 2 losses), the BCS would have matched LSU and USC up in the Sugar. It's the HUMAN element that screws up the BCS.
I'm not even concerned (in this instance) with all of that - it's the fact that he compared having to vote with BCS winner with the cruel hand of Communism. And he gives "props" to those coaches who went with their convictions. Well, conversely, those coaches reneged on their deal. They had an agreement, and these guys went against it. Want to bet that this writer has also wailed on about loyalty in sports at some point in his career?
