NC coaches have so many residual effects that bring revenue in hand over fist. Increased university license apparel alone justifies the pay scale. Big game cash and even student enrollment increase are just some of the extra revenue that will come when teams are dominating college football.

I understand that, my point was simple. In 2004 after 2 regular season losses, and a few very close wins, ie., the OOC Troy game, and the way LSU lost to Iowa in the bowl. People would've shit the bed over paying $12M/yr to keep Saban in P&G.

Hindsight being 20/20, it would've been worth it to see LSU at the level of success Bama is enjoying, but I also wonder how much of his current success has to do with lessons learned from crashing in the NFL?

Alabama is getting vintage Saban. All those years and all those jobs and lessons learned are taking us to new heights. It really is crazy the amount of success he's having.

 

I don't know, dudes with ego's like his, he probably blames all of that on the players. One thing he may have learned though is the only person who is worse than him when it comes to qb's is Les Miles. Remember all the boneheaded moves he made with qb's at LSU? I mean Marcus Randall was a QB for us. He passed on Drew Brees for Dante Culpepper at Miami. The whole Randall and Russell debacle, the whole Booty and Rohan debacle. Seems he has learned he may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer at offense, but he is sharp enough to realize that as well, which is why he lets others handle the offense. And he damn sure knows how to stop offenses.

Totally agree on all the other stuff, LSU fans would have run him out had a 12 mil figure been put up.
