If we can't sign home and homes with big BCS teams, what we need to do is go after the best teams in each of the Non-BCS conferences. That's what we were trying to do with Marshall and Bowling Green this year, but they backed out. The computers are stupid, and don't seem to realize that a win over a 4-4 Auburn (Just a hypothetical example) team would be better than a win over a 8-1 Northern Illinois team. So all we need to do is schedule teams that SHOULD have winning records late in the year (i.e. NOT UL-Whatever). La Tech still has a chance this year to have a winning record at the end of the season. It's too bad we couldn't catch them on the year they won the WAC.
I would not mind playing TCU---it could be beneficial to both teams. We improve our SOS and they can use us to boost theirs from being in a weaker conference. Of course, I have friends in Ft. Worth who think that TCU could hang in the SEC so it would be nice to prove them wrong.
TCU is a good candidate, assuming they stay good each year. They would have been great to have on our schedule this year.
I also think they would be a good team for LSU to possibly travel to Ft. Worth for---as long as they come here first(maybe a 2 for 1 deal). The reason I believe this is that it would give us some bigger exposure in the DFW market for possible recruiting in-roads.
Hell, they almost lost to FREAKIN' Tulane. Even the Tulane folks are having a hard time justifying TCU in a BCS bowl. WHY??? Because they saw TCU first hand.
