Where is the best sea food in New Orleans?I know there is some place on the water that has raw oysters where you sit & eat & just throw the shells in the water. Can any of you help me out?
If you got the cash, it's Galatoire's. They pay cash to the fisherman so they always get first choice. Pick of the litter if you will. They used to be cash only (no plastic) but I think that's changed.
Denies in Bucktown Dennies (not sure how it is spelled) in Bucktown has an awsome seafood platter. It is piled high with seafood. Nice casual atmosphere. One seafood platter will feed to full size people. Good stuff!!
If you can make the ride, the BEST place for seafood (IMHO) is Mamie's. It's WAY down Chef Menteur Hwy., by Venetian Isles (right before a bridge). You can actually watch the trawlers come right up to the side of the restaurant to drop off their catch. TALK ABOUT FRESH!!! UNBELIEVEABLE Seafood Platter.
Stay away from the high dollar joints- tourist traps. Uglesich's on Baronne St. @ Erato. Been in that spot since 1924. Emeril's favorite place. Get there early and only open for lunch.
try this forum link. Tell them your situation and then ask them if reservations should be recommended. I am hearing that Sugar Bowl weekend is going to be on par with Mardi Gras, even calling it Sugar Gras. Good luck and have a pass a good time in NO. Never in your entire life will you eat anything better than "Paul's Fantasy" at Uglesiches. Keep in mind that they are only open during the day. It is by far the best meal in the city (seafood wise)......
http://neworleans.citysearch.com/best/ballot/8612/?cslink=cs_boc_left_nav It's Deanie's or Bozo's near the Lakefront, Deanie's if you're really hungry ... Middendorf's if you're coming into town from north via I-55 about 12 miles from I-10 ... And, hey ... make sure you homers peel those boiled shrimp before you eat 'em. If any of your party eat shrimp and their lips swell up and turn blue ... it's just a reaction to the Iodine ... nothing to worry about ... just feed 'em lotsa bread and butter.
