My poll is based purely on potential. I have to disagree with your statement on our prime contributors typically not our most prized recruits last year. Matt Flynn- 4 star Perrilloux- 5 star Byrd- 4 star Doucet- 5 star KW- 5 star Scott- 4 star Murphy- 4 star Dorsey- 4 star
im not necessarily disagreeing with your point, but there are many other players that contributed more than some of those, specifically--perrilloux, doucet, williams, scott and murphy. like hester, pittman, steltz, jackson, zenon, beckwith. dont know how many stars these guys had.
This is more along the lines of what I was saying. Another example of talent vs. output is 2006 LSU vs. 2007 LSU. Which one was the more talented and which was the more accomplished?
The '04 class was very exceptional - lots of guys from that class have ended up being important starters for us as well as All-SEC caliber & high draft pick potential. It, of course, remains to be seen whether this class will have that sort of impact at the college level (and how it will ultimately finish is not final). However, I feel very good that this class will have as big of impact on LSU over the next few years & will develop just as many high caliber players.
Agreed.....The next few years will be something special at LSU. I honestly believe the best is yet to come.
I'll concede that, but 2007 was never beaten in regulation! LOL 2006 was the more talented team, though...nobody can truthfully argue with that. However, '07 - despite being slightly less talented - got more done on the field and supports my argument that talent is not everything. I haven't looked up the stats (I can't anymore thanks to my employer's web-blockers) but I think the '07 campaign boasted a better offense and a better defense than '06.
I could be wrong, but I don't think so. From the middle of the season on, we were scored on much more than I'd have liked last year.
