Ken Guidroz makes the best chicken & sausage gumbo in Baton Rouge at "Kiva's" (7622 Old Hammond, Bocage). I don't know if they put it on the menu but it's great, he won't give up the recipe either. Oh, their Italian stuff is pretty good too.......
I'll have to try it out, although I must not so humbly admit that I make the best chicken and andouille gumbo in the world!
The gumbo in the old Tiger Lair in the LSU Union was excellent. But the gumbo in the new food court just ain't the same.
I have to agree. I think that is the best chicken and sausage gumbo in BR. Now if you start talking NO, I say hands down, its Mandina's on Canal. PERIOD.
Have you tried pouring in a pint of oysters (with the water) about 15 minutes before serving? It makes the best better. :thumb: Here's something else by brother in law turned me on to. Sounds disgusting but it's awesome: Shrimp and meatball stew.
Why would you ruin C&S gumbo by putting seafood in it? If you want fishy, make seafood gumbo with crab legs, shrimp and oysters.
