so you think salty is a bigot and doesnt like black folks? perhaps he would not vote fot a half black republican that agreed with his values? i wonder if salty resented his black brothers in the marines.

the point is that there was no bigotry in his statement.

To lay this to rest....no, I would not consider myself a "bigot". I do not believe my comment was "racist". I pointed out his blackness because every body else in the free world is doing the same. His being black is an issue, but not "the" issue. I would have gladly voted for Rice or Keys as a candidate and the last time I checked they were both 100% black.

I believe obama to be 1) a POS, 2) part of the despicable Chicago political machine, 3) half black (everyone else points it out...why can't I?) son of an African (a sorry continent filled with disgusting people both black and white), and, whether he fits the defined interpretation of the word or not, a freaking bastard.

Since I view obama as an unpleasant person and as a mongrel, then my use of the word to describe him is perfectly acceptable.

On a side note, I went to a soul food restaurant today for lunch (yes I enjoy soul food and yes I was the only white guy within a five mile radius). I found it amusing that at least six people were wearing obama t-shirts including some of the staff and there were three framed photos of obama hanging on the walls. They were also selling obama plates from behind the counter. I "HOPE" everyone gets what they expected when they voted for this guy but I expect they will one day have a "CHANGE" of heart when they find themselves paying 15% sales taxes and standing in an unemployment line.

Also, if anyone is ever in Shreveport, you have got to try Cat Daddy's cooking over on Hollywood Blvd...best damn beef tips and gravy in the city.

If I am a bigot then I'm the rare soul food eating, blues music listening, black friend having, variety.

You are a white male, so in the eyes of some you just have to be a bigot. Of course using the true definition that really makes them the bigot.

Stop trying to imagine what I think, chief. I speak for myself and I spoke clearly. I never said one damn thing about Salty, much less declare him to be a bigot. I have no idea of Salty's motives and I don't really care.

I challenged your statement that "black bastard" wasn't a bigoted remark. Who do you think you are fooling?

I never objected to Salty's remarks, he can represent himself any way that he likes.

I challenged martin's characterization of what a bigoted insult was and was not.

Play on words? If you imagine that "black bastard" is not a racially charged insult, you are being dishonest with yourself. Ask any black guy. If you call him a bastard, you are insulting his mother. If you call him a black bastard, you are insulting his race, too. It's hard to call such a remark anything but a bigoted insult.

what is relevant is intent. if he didnt mean it to be a bigoted remark, which he didnt, then it isnt. that obama is black is not something salty is saying is negative.

Whether or not "black" is a perjorative term depends on how it is used. If it precedes "bastard" it is clearly prejorative.

I never gave my opinion on whether I thought it was a racially charged insult or not, I really could care less. However you can't have it both ways. You can't say he is throwing out bigoted insults and then say you didn't suggest he was a bigot.
