Why are so many republicans throwing Palin under the bus?

She cost Mccain the presidency. Or at the very minimum, didn't help at all.

Well, this was a very unconventional move on her part, and Republocrats like their representatives to be predictable. I might actually think she were a decent candidate if it weren't for how quickly she embraced dirty politics and how she often seems to be talking out of her ass.

    Re: Palin

    I see 3 possibilities.

    1. She wants to run for pres. but she doesn't know the issues that well. The campaign starts in 18 months. If she is gov. for 15 more months, she won't get the study time to be ready to stand as a creditable candidate when the deal starts in late 10, early 2011.

    2. She realizes she won't be president, and if she lets another year go by out of the national spotlight up there in Alaska, she'll be leftovers on the high dollar lecture circuit. If she's optimizing the family wealth, now is the time. Resigning the governorship is a crappy way to go at it, but hey, we're talkin about gettin rich here.

    3. Somebody has some dirt on her, and she needs to defend herself, or may cut a deal to resign and go away and it won't come out.

I tend to favor 1. A rich repub may have come to her with a deal to back her, but knows she needs time to get ready. They may even come up with a job for her that gets her more national attention, and international travel and experience. She did mention moving ahead in a new direction. We'll see.

imo, if that is her plan it had a serious flaw. there is no way she will get through a primary without being labeled (and likely successfully) a quitter.

i cant remember her exact phrasing, but at her presser she basically said she was tired of all the scrutiny. not only will that not go away, as a president it is 10 times worse. she will also get labeled as "not tough enough".

i think she did any national asperations more harm than good.

What, now we have a real comedian to go with all the pretend comedians!!!!

You go to a comedy club, and the comedian insults you and everyone laughs. Our Reps, insult all of us, and everyone laughs. Maybe old Al will learn some things from his new co-workers, and he can get really rich using their material.

Being labeled a quitter is a potential negative. But it is not as big a negative as showing up for a national campaign for pres and not being prepared.

If you force order her required steps, she MUST get prepared. If she shows up and she's prepared, she can deal with the resignation by saying she did it to achieve a greater goal, high national office.

It's not a great scenario, but I believe it offers her the best shot she has. Her odds are long no matter what she does.

I don't know if she wants to be the pres, but she usually sounds like it, or at least she welcomes the attention, like she got a couple of months ago at a repub gov. gathering.

It will be interesting to watch. I've thought about the press and public fascination with Palin. She's different, maybe that's it. She's young and pretty and has a nice looking family. She's risen through the ranks. And the crowds respond to her like crazy. Some of us are fascinated by the crowds response to her. She may not have it all, but she's got something.

I have no idea why Palin did what she did and I don't really care. I'm puzzled at the big deal this seems to have become.
