1. The last LSU coach to beat Florida and Auburn in the same season was Jerry Stovall in 1980. The only other coaches to do the same were Bernie Moore in 1937 and Charles McClendon in 1973.

Not even ole saint nick could tackle this feat....
  2. Interesting. Of course I noticed several views no response ;-)
    You can hear crickets....

Actually that is kind of a sad stat in the grand scheme of things
I will say it again people sometimes have a selective memory on Saban. I am a big fan of Saban but I also remember
UGA last year - what a beating
Blue Grass Miracle - Sure it was great but why did we need that to beat UK ? ITS UK
The Hammering we took the next week after that game
    UAB
    Alabama 26-0 nothing I believe
the mail in for Iowa - worst coached game I have ever seen
Texas game - We were up what 17 points maybe 14 dont remember but blew a decent lead.
    There are others.
  3. kinda puts things into some perspective doesn't it?

Granted, I know we're all upset about the UT loss (obviously), but to the majority of the people not associated with LSU, what they mainly notice is that we loss, in OT, to a team that was then ranked in the top 10.

A co-worker of mine (he's a BC fan) was talking to me about college football. When I mentioned, "I would like to see us (LSU) put it all together and soundly beat a ranked opponent" his response was, "Whatever, man. LSU didn't play a perfect over-all game--but even when you guys didn't, you still beat ranked teams. BC can't do that. We turn the ball over, or have as many penalties, and we don't win--not even against bad teams."

  4. chirp chirp go the crickets... thanks for the comments guys.

That fact blew me away... you mean to tell me, in 25 YEARS, we havent beaten auburn AND Florida in the same season?

amazing stuff when you think about it...
  5. Nick would be just any other guy if he wouldn't have taken us from the gutter...

He did that, so he will always be the best to us
  6. This "could" have been sabans year to beat both of them in the same year. Besides this is one of thoose stats like Nolan Ryan struck out more batters in the month of july on odd days when he ate at mcdonalds the night before
  7. It might be a bit on the obscure side, but fascinating none the less. Let me ask this, has Auburn and Florida been on the schedule every year before the conference expanded to 12 teams? Just asking, because not playing them every year could have something to do with the rarity. What about 1958?
  8. Thanks for researching (or remembering). I had been wondering when the last time we beat Florida and Auburn both in the same year but couldn't find any info. Now if we could just take down Bama......
  9. Would love to see Bama , FL , Au and even Ga Go down to the hands of LSU . Would be really sad if LSU didnt go undefeated from an OT loss , specially when the first half of their season was really unordinary from the hurricanes!
  10. I'm stunned. I think it speaks to the parity in the SEC, and the traditional strength of Florida and Auburn. Of course, I don't think LSU regularly played Florida until they were a Spurrier powerhouse, but I could be wrong.
