I am sorta down with this decision to shoot this bear that alledgedly killed that lil girl and mauled the family here the other day. I mean they shot him THEN they do the testing. this stinks. What about bear human rights?? not to mention animal rights.. RIGHT? I mean where is the ACLU on this issue. :angryfire I mean supposedly it was a Black bear...am I wrong? How did they KNOW it was the right bear? they didn't they just assumed it was on circumstantial evidence. BEARS EVERYWHERE should UNITE! Dahm bear murderers. :sob: No trial just BAMM! I mean the whole judicial process is no tainted by the mishandling of this bear case. Even if found guilty, who positively identified the bear? did he have a phone call? Was he Miranda'd???? :dis: :dis: :dis: I'm tellin ya the other bears are gonna be pissed. Especially the black bears. Fortunately for us the Bears still don't have a very good media. a few bark scratchings is about all they have in lieu of a daily tabloid. Some one should tell Jesse Jackson about this, he's obviously missed the boat on this one. he may have an angle here since it WAS a black bear. I can't imagine a situation where he wouldn't play that race card. that is all, good day.
If you were shot & killed for being suspected of being a murderer, I suppose you'd be pissed off about your lack of rights. Yea, yea Sabanfan - sense of humor...
But the bear wasn't exactly being a murderer, he was just being a bear. I'd drug him and let him wake up in Wyoming where there are plenty of small mammals and fish and damn few humans. Or export him to Canada . . . they love bears.
I would drug the bear. Then put said black bear in Jessie Jackson"s bed. (If anyone can find an address for him) If it happened to be a female bear, I would drug JJ, take a sperm speciman, and make a medical "insertation" into the bear. Then scream for DNA testing.:hihi: :hihi: If it was a male bear, I RECTUM that would require a different investigation.
We need another and a wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of animals. Remote from universal nature and living by complicated artifice, man in civilization surveys the creature through the glass of his knowledge and sees thereby a feather magnified and the whole image in distortion. We patronize them for their incompleteness, for their tragic fate for having taken form so far below ourselves. And therein do we err. For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complete than ours, they move finished and complete, gifted with the extension of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings: they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth.
No, my 18 year old cat died last yesterday and I was reading some Beston, The Outermost House. Seemed to fit. Congrats to LSUGradin99 for being the first to recognize it.:thumb:
I know one thing, anyone tells me my two dogs aren't smart or that they are "souless" for all that encompasses.... I'll gladly tell them they are full of it. They are smarter than half the humans I know and 5 times as compassionate.
