The BCS rating system sucks. Plain and simple. If we win out and the SECCG how in the world can you keep us out of the NCG. IMO it is much too early to talk about this. Secondly, USC. I was at the USC and Wash State game on Saturday and let me tell you the Trojans are for real. The D-line is about as good as ours (although I think we have a slight edge). Their RB's and QB are right there with ours. Hell, I thought I was at an LSU game when you look at the teams playing on the field. I knew I wasn't in Tiger stadium when 82,000 people sounded about as loud as our 7,000 in Arizona for the Wildcat game. Check that, the 7000 was louder. The point is make no mistake USC is an extremely talented football team as are we. Last, none of this crap will matter if we don't take care of Bama a week from Saturday. This game scares the hell out of me. More than the Auburn game. We better be pulling for the Maroons of Miss St to beat Bama this weekend and shake their confidence.
I always wanted to know what the crowd noise sounded like at the other big schools in the nation compared to LSU. Now, I think it would be much better is Bama is coming off a win than the lose to lowly Miss St. Bama may be in a down year, but anything can happen at their house. Hopefully we don't take them likely. I hope to see us play with the intensity we had against South Carolina.
The way the BCS looks is the only shot we have to get to the NCG is to not only win out including the SECCG, but we must win all games with solid victories.
I'm not saying we shouldn't have solid victories which would be good for many reasons, however, this would probably have zero impact on the BCS standings. The BCS did away with margin of victory as a part of its system.
The BCS did do away with the margin of victory...But we need solid victories to move up in the computer polls...IMO thats where we are being hurt. We are ranked #4 in both major polls and averaging 7.5 in the computer polls.. just doesn't make sense
I'm not sure what you mean by "solid victories," but there is nothing we can do to improve them now. It doesn't matter if we beat a team 100-0 or 21-20, it all counts the same in the computer polls. It might move us up in the human polls however. Best example of how stupid the computers are is the fact that Ohio State is No. 2 and No. 3 in so many when they have barely beaten San Diego State, NC State, Bowling Green, and Penn State. Two of those teams are terrible this year.
Im not sure that is entirely true. I know that all polls used in BCS calculations do not include margin of victory, but most of them weight your rating based on defensive performance. So, it doesnt matter if we win by 3 or 30, but it would be better to win 3-0 than 30-10. Now, I know for a fact that many computer polls use this method, I just cant remember if the BCS polls do.
