congrats go out to the bcs for adding a 5th bowl (likely the capital one) so 2 non-bcs (potential) schools can get a big payday.....the capital one pays out over $5m (highest payday of all the bowls).....wow.....however, the bcs still fails to address the fact that what happened last year can happen again....a dual champion in the polls......who else wants a true championship game so there can be no question who the best team is.....
there is no question who the national champion is. i think the bcs worked fine. the problem is with the AP poll and any media outlet that misunderstands who the champion is. the way i see it, the bcs pitted the two deserving teams against each other and worked great. but still, i wouldnt mind a 4 team playoff.
i don't know.....i think lsu vs. usc would've been better than lsu vs. oklahoma......i mean if you discount the mistakes.....lsu totally dominated them for 3/4 the game......
The AP doesn't know what it's doing. The AP put USC as their #1 team in the last regular season poll despite the fact that USC had played only one ranked team all season. LSU had just beaten the #5 team in the nation on essentially their home turf by 21. The week before LSU beat #25 by 31, and the week before that LSU beat #13 Ole Miss at Ole Miss.
Its worse than that. If the AP votes consistently and drops OU further down the list (like they would have earlier in the season if a team ranked that low had beaten them), then it all would have been moot. The AP created the whole mess with inconsistency, and cleaned it up to their own liking. #5 UGA fell further down the polls than OU after losing to a much better team in LSU. That is the burden of proof called inconsistency.
Actually they did do it pretty consistent in both polls. They put OU at the end of the one loss teams as they were the last one of the one loss teams to loose. They is pretty much how it is done towards the end of the season. Of course they all knew what was probably going to happen when they did that so I think if I were a member of the AP poll I would have dropped OU to 4th or 5th maybe just to avoid that happenning. UGA dropped to where they did due to having 3 losses. Again, the conference championship game hurt the teams that had played one helped the teams that didn't have one. Hurt OU becuase they played and lost, hurt LSU as it took points away with UGA losing in both Quality win points and SOS points. To get back to Snortins original post, everyone knew they weren't going to add a fifth bowl for a "playoff" type game, they all said it many times in the past few months. I think they will add a selection committee similar to basketball to decide who gets what bowl. Those guys would overide an event like last year but probably rubber stamp it if the BCS agreed with the polls of course.
What if in your book all the forum members are mysteriously murdered. And it turns out the murderer is Ramah? That would be cool. Huh huh huh....
