The BCS should not include strength of schedule as a separate category. SOS is already built into the system with the poll rankings. Don't the pollsters consider a school's SOS b4 they vote on the rankings ? Without question they do. As a result, SOS is already built into the system. Therefore, it is completely redundant to then add SOS again into the mix as a separate category. Just MHO !
Hubreb, read the damn post before you respond. He was saying that because SOS is already taken into consideration in the human polls as well as some computers, that they should not have a SOS category for scoring in the BCS. He's saying that it is hurting teams with low SOS twice. Ignorant bastard.:cuss:
No, and that's not what Hatcher was saying. He's not saying that you should completely disregard SOS, but he's saying take it out as a BCS point addition. Leave SOS in the computer rankings, and let Coaches/AP consider it when they rank teams, but I agree it doesn't deserve it's own side category. I think if it stays, then Margin of Victory needs to stay. By these adjusted rankings, TCU would be 6th instead of 8th. Not much of a change.
I agree Margin of vistory needs to come back also. A 24 point win over Auburn should count more that OSU's 1 point win over Penn St. However, they need to put a limit on MOV so that coaches wont run up the score in oreder to gain ground in the BCS. If they were to put something like a 30 point cap, then a 30-0 victory is equal to a 70 point vivtory. Either way, it is obvios that you kicked the other team's ass and it won't encourage coaches to run up the score.
then play a tougher schedule ---- you guys really have a complex about this schedule don't you -- the attitude on this board reminds of that before the Florida game - and you all remember what happened then
As a matter of fact we do, because we constantly have problems with teams backing out on us. If it were because we went out an looked for all cupcakes, then that would be one thing, but we had Marshall back out on us this year, Bowling Green last year, and Virginia Tech next year. If we had Marshall this year, that would have changed our SOS a lot. Instead we had to schedule Western Illinois who has KILLED us with SOS. Also, how were we to know Arizona was going to suck this much when we signed to play them this year?
I'm not whining about the SOS, just trying to explain a simple concept to a dumbass, homosexual, hotty toddy screaming, Rebel.
