LSU barely eeked past USC for #2 in the final BCS standings.

This computer poll was the closest of them all, and LSU had to finish #2 ahead of USC to take over 2nd place in the BCS. Take a look:

    Billingsley

    1) Oklahoma..............309.799
    2) LSU......................300.683
    3) USC..................... 300.567
    4) Michigan............... 287.786
    5) Miami FL................286.204

I just thought I would post this in commemorating another devasting time for USC, yet oh so close to playing for that beautiful piece of crystal once again. Twenty two lonely yards away.

PS - I hate USC. Special thanks to macatack for finding the initial thread with this info.

I still remember watching Bama come back to beat Hawaii early the next morning. We needed every thousandth of a point we could get.

I remember this board being overtaken by math and people laughing at Ramah for saying LSU lost it's Sugar shot.

P.S. Ramah was fun times. :)

You don't remember it too well. Just messing with you man. It wasn't Bama. Bama got spanked by Hawaii that year when we needed them to win. But I do remember them actually winning at one point in that game until Hawaii changed QBs. Boy, that was Bama's low point. Anyway, it was Boise St. who did it for us in that last game. Oh, and Syracuse blew out ND earlier in the day to help us. ND's low point as well.

Yes I remember being pissed with Bama for losing to Hawaii.

The Syracuse upset of Notre Dame was the thing that got it all started. Their running back just went off on the Irish defense. Hawaii put the cap on it at 2 in the morning in a wild affair.

Still remember cursing June Jones name (HC of Hawaii).

That game was back and forth for the better part of 3 quarters, and the way those teams play, you never felt comfortable til the final gun went off.

Yes, Ramah tried to call me out for not knowing what the hell I was talking about. I had only been a member for about 2 days when I posted it. I didn't know Ramah from a hole in the wall. There was no good analysis or breakdown about the BCS. I was way too inquisitive and analytical to just accept what was out there, and so I did all my homework and produced the info.

islstl, in your most highly praised analysis, who do you project in the NCG? Michigan or Florida....no numbers...just your honest down to earth opinion....

My gut instinct tells me the voters do indeed screw Florida. I feel badly for Florida and the SEC. I do think that since the best conference in the land will be snubbed for 2 of the past 3 seasons, that something will come of this. Even if its just one more step on our way to a playoff system. More and more PROMINENT coaches are coming on board. That is what is important. Don't tell me they don't matter. They do. We will have a playoff system, and sooner than most people think.

So 32,000 fans probably won't be changing any of their plans.

One thing I do think LSU has going for them is the same thing that screwed LSU in 2003 after the fact. The AP voters voting USC in to mess with the system. We might see some of the same this year.

I hope and pray your prediction comes true. :helmet:

islstl: lose the BCS avatar already.

We are quite aware that you know your math.

    You do it well.

Why rub up against that that is bad?

    You're better than that. :thumb:
