haven't had much time to read through TF lately, but I wanted to check to see if you guys realize how important it is for you to NOT play UGA in the SEC CC Game . . if this has been rehashed already . .my apologies . Brett or some mod can delete this . but if not . . you are currently getting a quality win for beating UGA. However, if you play UGA in the SEC CC Game, and beat them, you will probably knock them out of the BCS top 10, thereby taking away your Quality Win Point. Basically you either need UT to lose (to force a UGA vs. UF head to head therby UF goes) or you need UF to rise enough in the BCS to force the UGA vs. UF head to head . . . Good luck this weekend!
Yes, there have been some threads here about that topic. That is why we are all cheering for *gulp* Florida.
okay . .just making sure . a few of the folks around here (including the Sportsradio 610 afternoon guys) weren't aware of that and thought it was best that you played uGA
It is close to impossible for Florida to rise high enough to edge out Tennessee in the BCS standings if Tennessee wins out. Teams like Ohio State, even with two losses, would still squeeze Florida back some on the list. Florida had better hope for a Tennessee upset. LSU's best chance of seeing Tennessee would be for Georgia Tech to knock off Georgia in Atlanta on November 29th. Much more likely than Kentucky beating Georgia in Athens this weekend on Senior Day.
Geogria Tech beating Georgia would do LSU no good either---UGA would be knocked out of the BCS top 10 so no quality win points for them. Then if we play Tennessee in the SEC CG and beat them they will fall out of the BCS top 10. I think the only way LSU makes it to the Sugar is for both Ohio State and USC to lose.
If Ohio State loses--and I think they will---and USC struggles against either UCLA or USC but win and LSU wins big against Ole Miss, Arkansas, and in the SEC CG, I think LSU could slip up to number 2 in the AP or ESPN poll and possibly both. If that happens we may be able to slip past USC for the BCS number two but that hinges on our SOS getting a good bit better.
I see what you are saying. LSU is between a rock and a hard place with all of the breakdowns. Beating Florida in the SEC CG would probably knock Florida out of the quality win arena as well, if they were to make it there by virtue of beating FSU. Ohio State should lose to Michigan. USC will have to choke pretty bad to lose against any of their remaining opponents, but stranger things have happened...
I'm not really concerned about getting any more QW points in from the SEC CG, what I am worried about is losing the ones we already have with Georgia. It may not be a big deal to lose the QW points if USC also loses their's from Washington State. I don't see WSU losing to Washington unfortunantly
BCS points are meaningless if LSU doesn't win the SECCG. It is difficult to beat a team twice in a season. Ask Tennessee. LSU needs to play Florida in the SECCG. No way they would beat us twice. On the other hand it might be hard for LSU to beat Georgia twice, too.
