This is the guy from PTI on ESPN who writes for the Washington Post. In this article he says ESPN/ABC and the six major conferences were supposed to start meetings today to add a 5th BCS bowl to be a NC game between the 1-4 teams. Read the article for further details. It would not affect this year's bowls. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A47491-2003Dec8.html On a side note, I saw the thread about coaches not voting LSU #1 to screw the BCS if USC wins. Per Grant Teaff, ACFCA president, this will not happen, and the coaches only vote for #2-25 after the bowls, the BCS #1/2 game winner is AUTOMATICALLY crowned coaches bowl champ....so please do not worry about us getting screwed there.
He is not saying this, but the last thing they need to do is give the AP and coaches more power. They were making to many mistakes, but I agree with the 1-4 playoff. I also think there should be a penalty for not winning your conference - something in the realm of 1 point addition (or subtraction for champions, screw ND). The need to deal with conference championships games fairly. I do not agree with the game being name after MLK. This is sports if they want to name it after someone who is black they need to pick someone who has been a big part of college football history. They are many qualified football people to chose from who happened to be black.
