To have more of an input in deciding who the national champion is. Way to defend the system you wanted, but wait...in this article Tranghesse (sp?) says the conference commisioners do not want the BCS? Why the sudden backing off of THE system THEY wanted after the USC fiasco.

What a bunch of hippocrates. The only tweaking that needs done is an extra "be all, end all" bowl game between the winners of the BCS 1 vs 4 game, and the 2 vs 3 game.

The only tweaking that needs to occur is to have an arrangement where the Coaches AND the AP have to vote for the BCS Bowl Champion! There, split championships solved! Penn State didn't get half when they went undefeated in '94 so why is there outrage when another 1-loss team doesn't get half of the championship?

The thing is, we are human and since we are human we are biased. USC has the ability to beat either OU or LSU but the two best teams through the entirety of the season, with all of the factors worked into the calculation are OU and LSU. To provide more weight to the human polls only puts us back where we were before the BCS with too much human bias.

How much tweaking is it going to take to pump USC up to #1 for this year? they were almost a full point behind OU. If the BCS is supposed to mirror the human polls then why have the BCS?

Eliminate the human polls from the BCS formula completely if you want to rid the system of bias. The reason the BCS was created was to stop teams like BYU playing no ranked teams for an entire season and claiming the National Championship. Some say this year the BCS did not work, but the truth is for the first time ever the BCS system DID work. It eliminated the bias in the human polls and awarded the teams that played a tough schedule and earned the right to play for the title. In years past there were two clear cut top teams and the BCS had no work to do. However at first look there appeared to be 3 teams worthy of a shot at the title this year and the BCS computers had a job to do. On closer examination USC played a very weak schedule and had not earned the right to play for the championship leaving only 2 teams worthy, the BCS WORKED and USC was eliminated. If USC were located in Nebraska or South Carolina they would be ranked no higher than 4th or 5th in the human polls. The BCS eliminated the media bias and set up the REAL National Championship game period, end of story. USC is the PAC 10 and Rose Bowl Champion, nothing more!!!!

The BCS will soon be gone because the human idiot pollsters don't like it because it doesn't agree with thier prejudices.

The conference commisioners no longer want it because USC isn't playing in the NCG.

I don't care if it would've been OU or LSU that lost thier championship game for the point I'm trying to make.

The commisioners don't want the BCS because we have a loser of
a conference championship game playing for the national title.

I agree that the loser of a conference championship game should
not play for the National Championship.

    having said that.......

USC doesn't have a Conference Championship......

Like I've said all year, this thing is F*cked up and Everyone is in
    a NO WIN situation.

    Like I've always said .............................

All confernences should or shouldn't have a conference championship game.

If your going to have the conference champ games, the winners play one another until you have a winner for the NC.

The seedings can be determined by conference standings.....
SEC vs Pac 10 or whatever you want to use.

    Regardless of what anyone says:
COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS THE LAUGHING STOCK OF ALL SPORTS

Every other sport has a playoff.

Lets get rid of 2 or 3 non conference games we don't need.

    instead

    have a playoff

Let's quite ranking teams before the season..........
That is part of whats wrong with college football.
where Auburn was ranked compared to LSU for example

    Start ranking them mid season.

We could even start the season 2 weeks earlier before everyone
is in class and get rid of a couple of non conference games.

The season would then end around the same time or maybe a
    little later.

All the PAC 10 needs to do is fine a couple more creampuffs, and they could have a Conference Championship. The BCS worked out how everyone liked until LSU jumped USC in the end. Then all of a sudden, it's broken. OU completely destroyed everyone they played (with the exception of Bama), and since they lost their Conference Game, it's all of a suddenly broken. You can bet this is going to be the first "tweaking of the BCS" for next year. You don't win the Conference, you don't play for the N.C.

Other than that, both OU and LSU showed that they were a MUCH better team than USC throughout the ENTIRE season. That is why the BCS worked this year. USC and their Disney butt pirates must live with that.

Your opinion of USC's ability to beat OU is spot on. I agree. USC would beat OU. Your assessment about USC's ability to beat LSU is ill informed. Both LSU & USC had a common opponent, Auburn.

    USC 24, AU 0 .................... LSU 31, AU 7

LSU's whipping was administered over 3 quarters and AU scored with 6 minutes left and LSU subs in the game. Had LSU played 4 quarters they could have whipped AU 45-0 ... easily, a 3 td result better than USC. An Ole Fashioned SEC Woodshed Whipping was called off by Nick Saban after 3 quarters.

That tells me two things ...
One, LSU's #1 defense pitched a SHUTOUT & YOU CAN'T BEAT THAT ... two, LSU's offense can be much more potent than USC's. And, I know that LSU Coach Nick Saban would outcoach Carroll in a big game.

LSU has a decent chance for a #1 AP ranking ... OU, not a prayer.

Don't forget that LSU was over AU 21 - 0 in the 1st QUARTER! Then Saban showed a little respect for AU and went conservative.

That tweaking won't work unless all of those conferences with BCS automatic bids have conference championship games. I know I would not accept a provision that was detrimental to only the Big XII and the SEC (and soon the ACC.) That leaves the Big 10 and the Pac 10 to expand or simply leave the system as it is.

I agree that it worked this time as well but people can't look past their bias. If anything, this proves the best way to guarantee your ticket is to win all of your games! USC only has USC to blame... and Cal. :D

Your willingness to rely upon common opponent comparisons as the be all end all simply further demonstrates your stupidity.

You are dismissed! (dang this is fun! )
