Requesting a little help from fellow Tiger fans. Coming down to BR for the first time in several year for the AU game. Bringing the kids for their first trip to TS therefore we're going to make a week of it and arrive on Weds AM. My questions for you, and thanks in advance for your response are: 1. Any recommendations on a campground to stay at? 2. How may rows are in the East Upper deck? Got my tickets through my brother-in-law (an Aubie) thus I know we'll be in the midst of the AU fans. My tickets are in EU-33 row FF. 3. Any good recommendations for things the kids should see while in BR or LA (other than the LSU stuff) while we're there? Thanks again, see ya next week! GEAUX TIGERS!
Depending on their age, they might enjoy the new planetarium by the Centroplex ... it's part of the Louisiana Arts & Science Museum on River Road. http://www.lasm.org/
Row FF? That's pretty close to the very top because I got my parents tickets for the Arky game and I beleive they are on a row right around there and the ticket guy told me it was just a couple rows from the very top.
The USS Kidd is the best-restored WWII warship in the country, down on the riverfront behind the Maritime museum. You can go all over it and spin the guns around. Kids love it. The observation deck at the State Capitol offers a commanding view of the town and the river. The Casino Riverboats are great fun and a good way to leave your money in town. The LSU Rural Life Museum is an unusual and very popular atraction. http://www.baton-rouge.com/BatonRouge/ for more.
FF? That would be row 32. You don't get nosebleed, do you? For the view from your seats in Tiger Stadium, click on your section on the stadium map: http://www.lsusports.net/fb/fbmap/fbimgmap.htm
Figured they were pretty much up in the "nearer my God to thee" section. Won't matter, the kids will have a blast. My son (7 yr old) has been counting the days all summer. He has a huge shopping list for our visit (jersey, flag, helment, etc)! GEAUX TIGERS!
KY, the only "kid-friendly" campground i can think of in the area would be Jellystone Park. Its theme is Yogi, Boo Boo, you get the picture. its about an hour from the stadium though, in Robert, La...east on I-12 just east of Hammond.
I can't think of a lot of attractions for kids in Baton Rouge other than the Baton Rouge Zoo and Dixie Landing Amusment Park that I hear would cost you an arm and a leg. If you are going to spend any time in New Orleans take him to the Audubon Zoo. There is the Aquarium of the Americas that is cool too. You might also be interested in the D Day Museum. There are a number of Swamp Tours where they take you for a boat ride though the Louisiana swamps and you can see alligators and all kinds of other interesting native wildlife.
I would say your best bets are... -Baton Rouge Zoo -State Capitol -USS Kidd -Planetarium Enjoy Baton Rouge! :lsug:
