I guess the public's spoken...We heard from Baton Rouge politicians and leaders who had a vested business interest in poor-mouthing the deal, but it seems Denham Springs-and Livingston Parish-residents were amazingly happy and pleased with what their elected leaders accomplished for them!

I'm just happy all that revenue, all those tourism dollars, all those hotel/motel room tax possibilities, all those gasoline taxes, all those restaurant taxes, and all of those opportunities to attract real taxbase to help our already outstanding public schools, our thriving infrastructure, and our quality of life here in Livingston Parish will finally be on its way.

    :)

Be careful...The average shopper spends 3 hours in Bass Pro...You might not have time to fish after you leave...

I seriously doubt that the average shopper spends 3 hours in Bass Pro... It's just another outdoor shop, albeit larger. The prices are no better than anywhere else.

Tourism? You might get a few shops around the place, if you want to call that tourism. Do you REALLY think people will stay at a hotel just to go to a Bass Pro Shop? Sheesh. There's so much to do in Louisiana.. why would anybody devote a stayover to a store?

Government sponsorship of large businesses... This is capitalism?

You're right, though... the people have spoken. Lots of suckers born every minute.

OK, if you doubt it, then refute their information...

Considering Jim Thome and Jack Clark of MLB used to plan their off days during the season around road trips that would have them close to one of the Bass Pro Shops nationwide, and ended up being to the point that they would charter planes for their teammates and friends in order to spend entire DAYS shopping at Bass Pro Shops, I'd say you were once again opening your rattletrap whilst not knowing a $@$%ing thing about what you're rattletrapping about...

There were 5,000 people at the opening of the Bossier Store, and they threw a live-free-concert featuring John Anderson...Portcitylsu from the Lair ran a boat store that his father helped him out with, and it was so popular, they were looking for areas farther away from the store to relocate in order to maintain business...

Do us all a favor, and stick to things you know about, mainly...Plagirism, revising history to cover up plagirism, starting threads about the nonexistence of God, the stealing of any election in the past two decades that was not won by a Democratic Presidential candidate, etc...

Of all the crap in this thread, I'm happy to see that we've got some new information: Jim Thome and Jack Clark are idiots.

I love Bass Pro, but have no idea why you'd plan a trip around them now that they're so widespread. Hell, even Livingston parish is getting one. :hihi:

Still with the ridiculous plagiarism accusation after you've been proven wrong, eh? I posted my essay on this board to prove that it was not, and challenged you to find it anywhere else. Of course, neither you nor anyone else could.

I know quite a bit about going to Bass Pro Shops, having been several times at the store 25 minutes from my house.

It's not surprising that a boat store owner would want to move away from Bass Pro... It's a nice store. But that doesn't prove that the average customer spends 3 hours there. You think Jim Thome is typical? LOL. Only somebody very hard up for something to do would spend DAYS at a Bass Pro Shops store. It's just a store. People hardly spend that much time in museums.

In Dallas, I always use the north exit at DFW because that's where the Bass Pro Shop is. I will be sure to attend the grand opening in DS to get my free cap. I have a friend who took a 4 day vacation to Bossier City because a Bass Pro Shop was opening that weekend. So, Rex, do not speak of that which you know nothing about.
