Ole Miss isn't exactly finishing their season strong, but still a very good test for the Tigers. 10-8 in the SEC would be a big feather in Johnny Jones' cap in his first season. I really hope we have a good crowd today, these guys have really busted their humps and they deserve our fans' appreciation.

Ole Miss is squarely on the bubble for an NCAAT bid

coach Jones: "We look forward to a great
challenge here on Saturday. It's senior
night for us. There's obviously a lot
riding on the line for Ole Miss. They're
thinking about the NCAA, and they
have aspirations in terms of still
putting themselves in position to get a
bid ... It's a huge game for us."

    The Mississippi Press

OXFORD, Mississippi -- It's early March
and Ole Miss' basketball team is on the
    NCAA tournament bubble.
    ...
    The Rebels
haven't made the Big Dance since 2002,
which is the longest drought in the
    Southeastern Conference.
Now in year seven, there's another
chance. Ole Miss (22-8, 11-6 SEC) is
squarely on the bubble as it prepares for a
road game against LSU (18-10, 9-8) on
    Saturday in Baton Rouge, La.
    ...
    (the Ole Miss coach says)
"This is a privilege for me to coach at Ole
Miss and to be a head coach in the SEC,"
Kennedy said. "I'm the all-time winningest
coach in the history of this program and
I'm proud of a lot of the things we've
done. Am I satisfied? Not close."
    ...
"I hope everybody knows that we've
got to bring mad energy and defense to
    this game."

At 22-8, the Rebs are off to the best start after 29
games since the `0-01 season. A win on
Saturday would give the Rebels 12 SEC
victories this season, tied for the most
school history with the 1997-98 squad.

The series with the Tigers, which began in
1909, is the second-longest in Ole Miss
    basketball history.

    The Rebels have
won four of the last five meetings over the
Bayou Bengals, including a 72-48 victory at
home last season. The Tigers hold a 77-28
advantage in games in Baton Rouge, but Ole
Miss has taken two of the last three
meetings at the PMAC. Andy Kennedy owns
an 9-5 record against LSU in his career. He
    is 8-5 with Ole Miss

We are underway at the Maravich
Center before a big-time crowd and
this is a big-time basketball game.

Huge blow for LSU early as Carmouche just landed badly and appears to be injuried
