I am somewhat startled at how few baseball scholarships are allowed. Mind boggling. Ain't right.

Seems to me a school ought to be allowed at least 25.

11 on the field at one time for football? 90 scholarships?

5 on the court at one time in basketball? 15 scholarships or about?

9 on the field at one time baseball.................11.7?

    Proportionately, it ain't right.

Football and men's basketball are typically the only two sports on campus that make any money and are usually the only two visable sports outside of the local community. When choosing which sports to cut scholarships for due to title nine requirements, university presidents and athletic directors decided not to cut their own throats.

Many universities have had to cancel their baseball, wrestling, swimming programs in recent years in order to be in compliance. Schools are making a choice on which sports are valuable to them based on thier need to stay in title nine compliance.

That's the way the schools \want it...baseball makes the least amount of money (typically a loss), the other sports (coughfootballcough) pays for all the baseball scholarships. The fewer they allow, the less money the schools lose on baseball.
