Football and Basketball both have versions of Hey Fighting Tiger. Baseball needs one too. I think they should write one and play it at the 7th inning stretch. Maybe we could come up wih something and email it to Skip and Smoke for implementation. This is what I came up with

    Hey baseball Tigers
    Fight all the way
    Hey baseball Tigers
    Win the game today
    We've got the pitching
    We've got the bats
    Put a runner on first
    Drive him home
and put on your ralley caps
You've got to go fir the homeer
    then strike out the side
    make Mike the Tiger
    glow with Tiger Pride
    To the Championship
    of the SEC
    and NCAA
    Omaha we're on the way!!

I'm no poet, but maybe we can come up with something collectively. Wouldn't be awesome to be there the first time they play it and be recognized for our contributions ot LSU baseball. And if it catches on and you take your son to the game in 10 years and you can say "Daddy helped write that song sonny."

I always thought that a pep band at the Box would be special. I have no idea if that is even a possibility, but even having them there for just the Friday games would be fun and add to the unique experience of LSU Baseball...

In the early to mid 80's, before the Omaha years, there was a pep band in the stands. The crowds were much smaller then, and the band would sit under the main grandstands. I remember seeing them at baseball games when I was younger.

I've always wanted the pep band at the baseball games. I go to pretty much every home game and that would be awesome.

There is some awful song that Jim Hawthorne wrote a few year's
back...it never caught on (thank God), and I don't recall the name
    of it.

Jim also occasionally tries his hand at butchering the National Anthem before games at the Box...I really don't know who told him he has musical talent, but Sinatra he ain't. He needs to stick w/ the day job.

    Basketball words

    The basketball words are:
    Hey, Fightin Tigers
    Fight all the the way
    Hey Fightin Tigers
    Win the game to day
    You've got the ball
    now drive to the hoop
    Jump over them all
    as you take the ball
    and slam it--Alley Oop!
You've got to go to New Orleans (... to the basket)
Win the Final Four (run up the score)
    Make Mike the Tiger
    Stand right up and roar
For the Championship (Give it all of your might)
Of the S E C and N C Double A (as you fight tonight and keep the goal in view)
LSU go all the way (Victory for LSU)

They were written for the 1987 season by a couple of trombone players (one of whom is my brother in law), based on the fact that the Final Four was in the Superdome that year. Fess hits that free throw and it comes true!

The next year Linda Morehouse changed the words at the end to the more traditional football words (see parentheses), since the Final Four was no longer in NO.

    I prefer the original version.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Baseball can get slow at times and a pep band could get the crowd back into the game and fire up the team.:tigerbase :tigerbase :tigerbase :tigerbase :tigerbase
