is bigger than the SEC. BAMA don't need the SEC. The SEC needs BAMMA!
Quotes from our friends at Alabama-Tidefans. With my distain for auburn I somewhat like Bama and most of their posters here too. But that is just funny. It seems as both Alabama programs this year will be under a microscope. To see how they will react under this much pressure will be interesting. It will be fun to watch the SEC play out this year.

Alabama has been under a microscope since 1999 and under pressure from several factions since then too. Recruiting under pending sanctions, recruiting under sanctions, 4 coaches in 4 years, trials, appeals, ect. ect. Even under that kind of pressure Alabama had a 10-3 season and were in every game except 1 the Auburn game. 31-0 at Death Valley does not sound like a program ready to die.
There are a few posters on tidefans and Alabama boards in general that feel Alabama should leave the SEC. Many more feel differently. Most all of these comments come under the heading of the Ronnie Cottrell case against the NCAA or our sanctions from the NCAA or when the name Roy Kramer comes up. The comments that the NCAA needs Alabama, true. Alabama brings in revenue with bowl games. No other team in the SEC can claim a winning record against all other SEC teams but Bama. That's not smack just fact. Alabama does bring a lot to the SEC, especially in football, with records in bowl appearances, bowl wins, television appearances, all time win %, we bring a lot to the table. Should Alabama become an independant or join another conference we would do just fine and the SEC would have all their teams move up a notch and do just fine. But the point is, and I am sure many will miss this point, when our program gets hammered for the same things others get a slap on the wrist for or even less there will be some brash statements from some people. Alabama's reputation has been tarnished by the court of public opinion due to the NCAA's method of trying our case. I will not argue any merits of that case. Anyone with enough knowledge to use a search engine can find answeres themselves.
Perhaps Tommy Gallion will bring some of these things to light in the near future and some of the lies will be exposed.

But, do not look for Alabama to lie down for any team this season. Take us lightly and we will take you to school. ;)

All schools have their crazy fans, lord knows we got ours. But the majority of your Tide Fans, realize that they are a big part of the SEC and love the SEC because we are the best conference in college sports. (Sorry Big 12 you may have a slight edge in football right now, but with Nebraska and UT taking certain nose dives, you have OU take the top 5 programs in the SEC against the Top 5 of the Big 12 and the SEC 4 out of 5)
I am sure the tide fans that post here agree that leaving the SEC is not an option nor would Alabama want to (Big money)

And lets face it, the SEC would be great, but not the same without Alabama, we would lose the Alabama vs UT game, the Iron Bowl (Well probably still have that but without the drama of a SEC title berth on the line)

Bama like it or not are a very large part of the Rich history of the SEC. Every school except for Vandy and possibly USC has a rich history. Yes even Kentucky, Basketball.

I am sure when the dust settles, Bama fans (At least the ones crowing about leaving the SEC) will realize Bama belongs in the SEC as does Tenn, UGA, Florida and all of us. (Bring back Ga. Tech replace Vandy)

Why would Bama leave? If they left no shot at any SEC title and no opposing fans to argue with. Now what fun would that be?

There is just a small percentage of Bama fans who think we should leave the sec. Most of us dont take it seriously yall shouldnt either. We are a big part in the sec, but I for one respect all other sec schools and take pride in being part of the best conference in the country.

I have been to 1-2 Bama boards and love them. Good nature fans just mad at the NCAA and justifiably so, IMO.

As much as Bama would like to believe it, they would not survive long as an independent. Only Notre Dame has that capacity at the moment due in large part to their contract with NBC. Even ND will eventually succumb and join a conference. It is only a matter of time. Bama would do well to stay put.

Not that I think any one team makes or breaks the SEC, but, personally, having the SEC without Bama is like having gumbo with no rice...

As long as ND had their TV deal in place, as well as an agreement with the BCS, there's no way that the Irish will be anything but an Independant. They make too much money as is....and the thing they like the most is not having to share any of their Bowl earnings or TV deals with anyone else.

However, ND's status as an Independant can only work as long as they maintain their current TV deals. Once that's gone--look for them to scramble to a conference. And when they do, look for the Big Ten to come calling. ND fits the Big Ten mold perfectly.

Playing in the Big Ten would allow the Irish to continue their rivalries with Michigan State, Michigan and Purdue. Allow for new interesting matchups with Penn State, Wisconsin and Ohio State and still gives them the opportunity to continue their classic rivalry with USC and new-formed rivalry with BC as non-conference games....
