of crap for posting Saban was staying at LSU two years ago. Nick admitted he turned down WH twice before he finally gave in. Nick Saban told several LSU officials and his coaching staff that he was staying in Baton Rouge. Of course the next day he was in Orlando announcing his departure. I give him 3-4 seasons in Tuscaloosa.
I had your back on that... But this situation is different. Saban has said his heart is at the college level. He will no longer have NFL teams coming after him at the end of every season - atleast not the way he did when he was LSU. Also, the money he is making is so great that it makes it very unlikely any other college would pose a real big threat to coming in and stealing him, although I'm sure Sexton will still float some rumors. Bama won't have to worry about him leaving near as much as we did every year. However, I do expect he'll be gone within 6 years because I don't think he'll have the success he had here at LSU and it will be a mutual thing.
I tend to agree. If Nicks keeps winning championships, he'll retire at Bama in 8 or 9 years. If he merely cranks out 9- and 10-win seasons . . . he'll find some greener pastures in 4 or 5 because winning ain't enough at Bama. Hell, winning ain't enough at LSU anymore either. Championship trophies are all that matter. Nick went to the BCS game in four years at LSU. Meyer went in 2 at Florida. I figure Bama will give him the four for the BCS. . . but he better get in the SECCG in two like he did at LSU. Especially since Meyer also did it in two and Les Miles did it in one! Pressure comes with that money, Nick! You'll be expected to bring in another #1 recruiting class, too! Next year, in fact!
Well not quite. For him at Bama, beating Auburn probably matters more than anything. One might argue that if he loses the Auburn for the next four years but makes manages to win the SEC once in the process, he would still be on the hot seat.
You can probably rest assured that no NFL teams will be knocking down his doors anytime soon. Even Sexton ain't that good!
CNS wants that 10 ft tall bronze statue outside of BDS...................and another $750k bonus that goes with it.
WH didn't really fight very hard to keep him. Maybe $aban saw the writing on the wall and figured this was the best time to get out of town.
Why would he want a statue of Bear Bryant? When you are guaranteed over 30 million, I doubt 3/4 of a million will be much of a motivator.
No, he'll take something 5'5" in a skirt, alive not bronzed, in his office not outside the stadium. And six figures are so beneath him.
