I don't totally understand what your saying although I think the play calls offensively were suspect today. We were moving the ball with Broussard on the outside and we stopped and went back inside? Broussard should've gotten alot more carries in this game. Marcus Randall was great on the drive to start the game and he shouldn't have been pulled while he was hot. JR was not put into the situation of being savour in this game? The reason we have a 2 quarterback system is that they both are too inconsistant which means if 1 of them gets hot you should ride that train as long as you can. I noticed today that MR has trouble throwing the ball on the outside and that is JR's strong points where JR has trouble throwing the short passes and putting touch on the ball which MR is probably better than JR there. You have to understand also the JR doesn't know the entire playbook so the offense is somewhat limited on what they can do with him in the game. I don't totally fault the coaches for the lack of execution on offense, defense and special teams although I think the playcalling on offense is suspect. The coaches can't go out there and execute for the players!
Good for you !! ------------------- . Now you need to tell us who did LSU go out and get who can be a quarterback like Matt? I think that LSU fans are in for a long season. We are going to remember what it feels like to lose again . This LSU team is not the level of the team last year . Some have the quarterback that they have wanted ,he is still the same as he was two years ago . His talent level is not SEC level. Neither qb that LSU has now is SEC level that is a fact. UT has just got a TD . Florida may lose . But guess what ?WE still have a lot to worry about this LSU team may lose 4 games .GEAUX TIGERS Ruby made the young men scream ----FIGHTING SIDE OF ME @@ Song of the year
I could be wrong, but I thought Russell was brought into the game, late when we had the ball deep inside our 5, after Randell had been blasted on that sack (I thought Randell was hurt). However, I don't see how Randell lost this game for us or how Russell was handcuffed into not being able to win for us. I also don't understand all the negative comments about Randell, he drove the team down the field on the first drive for a passing score. He didn't throw any INTs, or give up field position. Neither played all star ball, but I didn't think either QB lost the game for us. Can Russell do anything wrong? Is he that perfect, that it is everyone elses fault? Russell threw the ball low all night, right to the WR's feet, that played a part in not being able to move the ball . . . but I don't blame anyone for it, that is the breaks sometimes. This is real football, not a video game. Sometimes things don't work, sometimes WR's drop passes, sometimes lineman miss blocks. Stupid mistakes and missed assignments happened to both teams, AU gutted out the win. It is, what it is. Now the team has to bounce back and get focused for MissSt, that is what college football is about. I guess I'm not ready to throw Saban and the staff to the dogs for a close loss. I'm not saying they are immune from critical posts or anything like that, but it is damn hard to win every game by a blow out. Sometimes things are not going to happen your way, or the team may have a bad game. The thing is, I doubt Saban will blame anyone for this loss but himself and the coaching staff. I also have a hard time blaming this loss on Randell, when he did lead this team to a scoring drive and didn't throw any INTs. I think all your points are open to debate, however you do make valid points. I just don't think it is as cut and dry as you make it sound.
It is obvious you are a total Randall basher, and you are oblivious to the fact he played the better game today and gave us the better chance to win. I am a big Russell fan, but I do not see him as being the better QB in today's game. Saban should have left Randall in after the first drive of the game. Saban screwed up MR's and the team's rythem by switching QBs that early. Russell missed several wide open receivers today...that has nothing to do with play calling, but instead with execution by the players. Randall missed some open receivers too.....execution killed us all day. the coaches need to take a hard look if Justin Vincent is the back for this team. Broussard is way better in my opinion, and Vincent is nothing near what he was last year. Maybe the press clippings have gone to his head. The defensive is very good, but we are very soft over the middle, and I think we will get burned deep some this year as Webster seems to have lost a step. Daniels was clueless today too for some reason. As for getting the most out of his players, I will agree that some of the passing plays are screwed up. You have 2 speedsters in Doucet and Carter that you never utilize deep or on fades. where the hell is amp hill at? I think we went into this season depending too much on our rushing game, and the lack of JV's production there is greatly showing our offense weakness in the passing game. I think by midseason our passing game will be where it needs to be, and all the complaining about Jimbo will be a moot point.
I would say I have to agree with fightintiger. You can talk about youth our whateverelse the excuses may be but there are other teams in the country that have had success with (youth) at key positions (Tennesee). They may not win but they are capable of scoring which is somenthing we have dificulty with. I think Florida is a good example of playing for the future. Chris Leak a freshman last year given the team and the opportunity to grow and is now very capable of running the Florida Gator offense. I think you go with one QB and live and die by it because it will make you better in the end JMO
I wasn't necessarily sayin that you wanted the coach fired....I was simply implying that this subject matter could give some of our over-zealous members the idea to begin looking for a new coach....nothin directed at you.... :thumb: In other words....some people cannot be critical of the coach without wanting him fired...
i was waiting for somebody to mention this team's speed. Where is that again???? I haven't seen it. X Carter hasn't smoked anybody. Why have coaches continued to use players that aren't making plays? Not necessarily the QB, wide receivers & runningbacks too. We get something going and coaches change it. Now Corey Webster plays every position on the field? I can see why he's seemed to lose a step - it's cuz he's freakin tired. Everybody seems to be looking for the big highlight reel play. Where did the essentials go? Is it to much media pressure? Why are we so soft over the middle? Florida exploited it last year - this year everybody seems to be trying it. FIX IT. How did LSU hold AU to 10 points? Our defense didn't look as good as last year. What happened to the blitz? I think I saw it 2 or 3 times... Is it to difficult for the young players to learn? Lots of questions... it's up to Nick & Company to answer them.
I agree with you there were some bad coaching decisions made. I also know It's easier to see from the press box. I also am glad i don't have to make those decisions, hind sight is 20/20. I think we have one of the best if not THE best coach in the NCAA. I myself would have left Marcus in untill he screwed up. Could have been the very next drive, but i'd of waited for it. this TWO QB system has a shelf life. There is an old saying, Ride the good horse untill he stumbles, don't keep switching mares in mid stream.
