After watching the meltdown losses by teams like Oregon, Oklahoma, and West Virginia after the loss of their starting QB, I think it says a lot about LSU that we won a Conference Championship with our back up playing the entire game. No meltdowns today for the TIGERS. SEC champs and onto play for the :crystal:
I was just thinking about that. Imagine any of the following going down, and how their team would do (or have done!) Oregon -- Dixon -- season over WVU -- White -- game over USC -- Booty -- some issues UGA -- Stafford -- would be done Mizzou -- Daniel -- would be done OSU -- whoeverthehell -- who cares, we're going to thump 'em :hihi: Crazy that our guys didn't miss a beat, though it's not surprising given the great gameplan, the team stepping up and Perrilloux's overall strong play
That's a great point. We have easily the most talented and able backup in the country right now and I still think we can win the big game if Flynn were to go down. This only reaffirms that we are one of the deepest and most talented teams in the country. Tennessee can't seem to beat our backups in the SECCG either :geauxtige
Matt Flynn -Decent college QB. A warrior that will do anything for the victory of his team. Ryan Perrilloux - Already an MVP. A possible Heisman candidate in the next 2 years and an NFL career. JaMarcus Russell - Comeback warrior. #1 overall draft pick. One of the most physically talented QBs to ever play the game. Predictable superstar career. Just to think that those 3 were on the same roster makes me appreciate the job our staff has done in recruiting. It's good to be a Tiger. I smell Bourbon, and no its not the sugar bowl.
Miles won his first SEC title with HIS OWN RECRUIT at the helm, a kid who would not sign with saban! Fear the hat! Ryan was impressive for an inexperienced QB, in his second start. Next year, he'll get better. Will we get an upgrade next year at QB, I think so.
Effects of losing starting QB or having them injured significantly during a game: Oregon - loses last 3 Oklahoma - loses to Texas Tech WVU - loses to Pitt USC - loses to Stanford (Booty's hand injury) Virginia Tech - loses to Boston College (Glennon still very raw at that point) Florida - loses to Georgia (shoulder injury, Tebow had his worst game) LSU - beats Tennessee in SEC CG and goes on to the national championship game
I know this has been said ad nauseam , but if RP straightens his act up off field, he has the tools to be something very, very special. Someone really needs to sit down in the off season, lock him in his room and play this over and over again until he gets the message. I wish him well, and he showed nad yesterday, big time. The Tigers played their azzzzzzzzes off. Like it should be. All that being said, we're very fortunate with Hatch waiting in the wings. I think he too, once given a chance to mature, is gonna be awesome. :tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye:
