http://www.collegefootballnews.com/2004/Preview/Unit_Rankings_Defenses.htm That #1 ranked unit sure looks familiar, but notice that Oregon State is #13. Looks like their DBs will give our young WRs a good, early test:
Yeah, gotta give them credit stat-wise. USC was #1 in the nation against the run last year, giving up only 60 yds per game on the ground (LSU was #3).
Ofcourse that is in the pass-happy PAC10 with an OOC game againt pass-happy Hawaii. Play some good running teams and we have the better stats.
USC held Auburn to 43 yards on 36 carries ... LSU held Auburn to 50 yards on 34 carries. Seems like a fair comparison...
This hurts.....but USC did play a pretty good running team last year. My Auburn Tigers. Both LSU and USC pounded us and it's too painful to look up the stats. Just wanted to remind you that they didn't only play "pass first" teams. NOTE: I got mine in just after TigerWins....that's the point I was making.
I did not realize that Oregon St. has the 2nd best defense that we will face this year with our new QB.
