Injuries is what lost us the game. Jesse Daniels and Addia being gimpy. too much for us. the other points mentoned are valid, but like you said we been dealing with that all year, and it got us 10-2......
Very good analysis Chosenone. Pretty good explanation of what went wrong, and it didn't have anything to do w/ playcalling, IMO!
LOL, nah my club seats fell through, Iwas in the endzone, and these were Tiger fans. It was pretty sad.
You like this match-up because of Flynn's scrambling ability??? This is the same Miami team that SHUT Lil Vick and the Hokies down right? I dont like this match-up for LSU because this Miami D is fast--real fast. The key to this game will be how well the LSU D plays...They better come to play!
LOL, I meant his scrambling abilty will help because I expect him to have to use it not because he will run all over them. Seriously, playing Miami in the peach is a good match-up, it will be one of the better bowl games, it's just not the sugar.
Injuries huh? Gimpy? Try out for the season for 2 guys with broken legs. The Playmaker Prothro and our best OLman Closner. Or how about last year when Bama lost their WHOLE backfield? Don't give me that crap about injuries because it was you (non-bama) fans that gave us crap about making injuries as an excuse. Injuries are a part of the game right? Deal with it.
Yeah, sometimes you'll run into an LSU fan who is a little too old or just a dud. But trust me, the maniacs usually outnumber them 99 to 1. Yes, JD getting hurt and basically not having Addai hurt us. Without Addai, we really didn't have a running game. I totally agree with Ch0sn about the playcalling and the receivers dropping more easy passes than I ever remember. The playcalling was so conservative at times this year it wasn't funny. When it's 2nd and 24 and we're running a screen (which we couldn't do all year)...when it's 3rd and 12 and we're running a draw...when it's 3rd and 8 and we have a five yard out-of-bounds route called...it's all conservative. A lot of our biggest plays were just plays where JR was forced out of the pocket and receivers were improvising. When you've got super speed and you're using two-tight end sets, it's a waste. And pretty much everyone knows you're gonna run it (see Georgia game and others). Skylar Green's lack of touches boggles my mind the most. He was healthy this year (unlike last year when he was hurt the whole year). They SCREWED him. He wasn't even in half of the plays. Idiotic is the best thing I can say about that. Jacob Hester had as many rushes (2) and as many catches (1) as Skylar in the SECCG in his senior year. Are you kidding me? Even if you don't want to pass to him, you leave him in as a decoy so they have to worry about him. I like Hester, but he doesn't have the natural talent Skylar Green has. He's a damn fullback. CRAZY! And the punt return plan was even more moronic. The guy barely ever had a chance to return a punt because LSU puts ZERO rush on the punter. After the Arizona State game, we didn't really rush the punter again. I don't know why...possibly because it actually worked. All he could ever do was fair catch because the kicker would have an hour to set up and kick it with perfect height and distance every time. Additionally, our gunners would never block their first two people down field. It didn't work! Georgia has a great return formation. They leave a guy five yards in front of their returner and let the guy block the first player down there. They beat Georgia Tech because of it with two great returns at the end. We should have changed the scheme. If you're getting ZERO returns, play "Beamer Ball" because it puts the pressure on the kicking team. I just don't like when great talent doesn't get a fair chance.
Yeah, that was funny and I forgot to comment about it. I would have taken that Wishbone over whatever it is that we call our offensive attack. Then, we would have seen if RP was the real deal or not. I didn't mean pull a receiver for just dropping a pass here or there. I mean pull him for consistently dropping passes. Bowe dropped the most by far. I'm the type, if it's not working, toss it and do whatever you have to do. Wishbone - go ahead - whatever it takes to score. Who would have thought Benny Brazell would become our most consistent pass catcher? The previous years he couldn't have caught AIDS in the VIP room of a gay strip joint. Just goes to show you, you never know what can happen if you keep trying.
