I am an Auburn alumni living in Florida. I visit the SEC boards to get the scoop on what others are thinking, etc. NOT to bash or start anything. The thing that disturbs me the most is the hate for Auburn on this board. Before you start the whole "cigar" argument, please let me finish. I sat in front of a TV last night and hoped with all my might that LSU would beat Florida. That is because I have to listen to Florida fans everyday and know how nasty they can be. On our board, we have a few really nice LSU fans who come on and chat with us. We have a great easygoing banter back and forth and I have always respected that. Then I come in here and it is Auburn bashing heaven. Now I KNOW that there are some stupid egotistical Auburn fans, just like there are stupid egotistical fans of every school. It actually hurts me (yeah I am a "girl") that I pulled so hard for a team last night that hates us so much. Before I get any flack about being a girl, I am probably the most die hard fan you will meet and usually whip the guys in fantasy football every year. (Even though I am quite cute! ) Our alumni association of about 25 who were watching the game ALL pulled for LSU. Alot of good that does... Now I just want to add a thought. I knwo some Auburn people come in here and run their mouths. (NC talk and the such). I will be extremely pleased if we run the board, but we are still a LONG way away. However, have you ever thought that some of those fans runs their mouths because NO ONE can ever conceed that we just might have a good team. It is always excuses about why we beat this team, or this team will whack us, or we had better get ready for this blah blah blah. It kind of puts people on the defensive. I was SO happy last year that an SEC team won the NC. YEAH - HAPPY! Some ignorant Auburn folks may have pulled against you, but not the majority. I go to alot of the games, and know alot of Auburn people. (I was born there) We are SEC strong and always wish an SEC team to win. H*ll, I would even pull for Bammer over OU. It's not the AU fans that people hate here, in fact I liked AU before Tubby. Tubbervile has turned the team into a herd of thugs and their behavior in the LSU/AU series the past five years has been horrendous to say the least. From jumping on the eye pregame, kicking field goals and refusing to move while the band marches on the field, to smoking cigars on someone elses field the team behavior under tubby has put fire in the eyes of many LSU fan. Don't take it personally because it is not you we just HATE your coach.
Agreed. He is the reason none of us like Auburn. When Spurrier was at Fl. alot of people didnt like Fl. now many people think of Fl. in a different light!
be glad you weren't here 3 months ago. it was much worse and deserved. \ let me clear it up for you...if you were upset since some were pulling against you this season you should understand how almost every regular poster we know from AU was in bed with USC after the NC game telling them they were the real NC's and LSU was a farce. That added along with everything else mentioned before from the cigars to the eye stomping to your idiot kicker fighting with our band and showing zero class interrupting halftime. Of course i know the above USC part isnt representative of your entire fanbase, though it is the fans most here interact with on a daily basis and regardless what tries to be undone, cannot. Most here will never forget the antics and the stirring of the pot by classless fellow SEC AU fans and their running down of a fellow SEC team. LSU fans are the some of the most friendliest fans in the country who will gladly give you the shirt off their backs then feed and serve you drinks, enjoying the competitive banter of an SEC foe. Yet, once you cross that line....their memories hold true forever. It will be hard to win their trust again. Let it be known, Im a proud SEC fan as well and always pull for other SEC teams outside the conference slate and I am aware you do as well...and for that, thanks. However, most here put their personal feelings above all else and fixing those deeper wounds won't happen overnight. It probably won't even begin to heal til Tubby is gone. good luck to your team. most here will still pull for AU to win the NC if UGA doesnt make it.
totally agree, i used to be a huge Auburn fan. they were my favorite team behind lsu. since tuberville came, screw 'em
You haven't read any of my posts then Let me just say I don't like your coach because of the Cigar incident and the stomping on the Tiger, AU kicker incident with the band didn't help things either. I don't care what anyone says but LSU vs AU is a rivalry because usually the winner of this game determines the west. There has also been alot of memorible games such as Earthquake,Fire, Int, Onside Kick game. This happens with Rivalries sometimes and thats why some don't like your team. I did give your time their props after the LSU vs AU game and commented after later victories that they seem to be playing at the level we were last year. I use to make fun of JC because I honestly thought he sucked as a QB and I've also gave him his props after some of your games. I will root for AU if we can't make it to Atlanta and I would like to see them or Georgia win the National Championship. I think I would prefer Auburn because I would rather lose to the National Champions by 1 point than 35 or whatever the score was at Georgia. I do root for *all* SEC teams in the postseason too. It seems like you guys may be going somewhere so enjoy the ride, You have to be good and Lucky both to win a NC and you guys played good against us but were Lucky about the whole Xtra point situation to win the game. Oh yeah, I almost forgot the USC thing, there are some horrible AU people out there. :dis:
Yes, I know about the cigar incident. Some of us were appalled by it and even called in the radio stations about it. It was a stupid move, and whether it was ever reported or not, Tubberville actually admitted it was a mistake, and what should have been just a celebration tactic turned into something much more. Good lord, ya'll stomped us after that! However, after all that has happened, this team has made a concentrated effort to not be "cocky". They know what expectations are like, and what it is like when you do not meet them. Also, most of you are very nice here - this is not a reflection of the majority, but LSU fans have also had a rep for being a little "nasty". There are other SEC teams that hate you guys because they thought you were "whiners". That little term was NOT coming from Auburn fans either. (Nor Ole Miss). I will continue to pull for you against Non-con because you are SEC. If you do not wish to return the favor, that is fine. I also will pull for GA in games that we are not playing in. We have the best time every year with them, and they are our oldest rivals. I do not see the hatred for us on the GA board.
Also, thank you for the kind comments from some of you. A few people are not reflective of an entire fan base. We can regret things that have happened you know.
