But it will be if LSU wins the game. No offense to the AU fans but Auburn is not that good of a team. I think that they deserve their current rank and probably even a little better rank but they are not a top 6 or 7 team. The fact of the matter is that OU, Miami, FSU and a couple of other teams with a fast defense would beat them soundly, because AU is one dimensional. Unfortunetly, LSU will not whip AU and in my opinion this is going to be a very diffucult game for the LSU Tigers to win. The fact that everyone is worried about this game should give LSU fans a reality check about this years team, they are just an average team. LSU was a dominant team last year who walked on the field every game with the conception that they would beat the guy across from them every single down. I just do not see that in this years team. The talent is certainly there, but an inconsistent offense with subpar playcalling is not going to win big games. I do not believe that the 2 quarterback system is a good idea, when was the last time that a team made it to the NC with two quarterbacks? Mark Richt tried it at UGA and quickly resigned to the fact that you pick one QB and you stay with him or you lose games. Just ask Texas about how effective the 2 QB system has worked for them. I have a preference, but one way or the other this offense needs to know who is going to be with them every single down, not whomever Saban or Jimbo feel like playing that series. No matter what people say, THE QB IS THE LEADER OF THE TEAM, and you win big games by his steady play.
I do understand LSU might not win today because we are playing a pretty good team on the road. The only thing I don't understand is why or how people are compairing this team to last years results and we have only seen two games. LSU has the players to not only reach last years results but to impove, we could go in the other direction but to say so right now is kind of like giving up on the team before they prove it on the field. How many people last year thought LSU would win a national title after a few games? Some LSU fans may have but nobody else did, I guess I'm just saying let the team play the games and be happy with what we have, to call them average at this point is a little early in my opinion.
My original concern coming into the season was the QB situation. But after 2 games, I think it's pretty clear-cut that Russell offers us the better option passing the football down field. Randall is the better runner--more of a Herb Tyler clone. If this were '98, I would say Randall would be the best option given the fact that we were more of a running team back then. But, even though our RB depth is fantastic right now, our talent at WR has tramendous potential and they have to be used. Auburn will no doubt stack the line of scrimmage to stop Vincent, Broussard and Addai forcing us to beat them through the air no matter which one of our QB's start (Russell is young and inexperienced and Randall, in his only other meeting vs Auburn as a starter resulted in 4 INT's). So if Auburn wants to stack the line and stop the run and play us man-to-man, then Russell, with his huge frame and height is the QB I want back there. He has the best chance to see the field and in my opinion has the best "touch" on the deep ball and intermediate routes. However, if in the 2nd half, and we're holding on to a lead, don't be surprised to see Randall take over a few series running the offense where we attempt to run down some game clock with options, QB draws, etc. Auburn is a ledgit top 15 team. They were so last year and I think they are again, but just 'cause they got a new offensive system doesn't convience me that Campbell will all of a sudden be David Greene or Chris Leak. Their running game is still what makes that offense tick and their RB's were clicking in the few weeks leading up to the game vs us last year, and we stopped them then. No Lavalais? No worries--Kyle Williams, Spears and Turner were 3 players that had huge games vs Auburn, holding Cadillac and Brown. LSU 24 Auburn 16 :lsug:
In response to the title of this thread I said the same thing when we played OSU but Auburn will be ready to play and I think they will pose a better challenge than what we faced vs OSU. Hopefully the good guys will be just too much for AU
not a lack of confindence nor a pessimistic outlook. Just what I have seen so far this season. I believe that this team has enough talent to beat any team in the country (just like last year), but I have not seen this team play with the kind of intensity it takes to win big games. I am not saying that LSU is not a top 10 team because just their superior abilities afford them that ranking. I also believe that this will be a different team come December, as Saban's teams always do, but at this point I have not seen the overall dominance that should have been portrayed against such inferior opponents.
this is the last transmission from me before i head into the stadium parking lot.......OUR TIGERS were not so fine tuned last year but steadily progressed each week until FLORIDA. Now, all things considered , AU may have some chemistry flowing early and should cause some problems for our Defense, but ALL good, er hum, GREAT teams learn to adjust to the conditions on the field, and if any of you watched the TIGERS play OSU, you should of seen the confidence on the field with 3 minutes left and we're down by 8 points. That I say right now, if that doesn't show to us they have the compassion, confidence or ability to overcome, then this post is VOID..........I love my university and my FIGHTING TIGAHS.............LLLLLLLLLLLSSSSSSSSSSSSUUUUUUUUUUU TTTTTIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRSSSSSSSSSS
