I am hearing the spotted cats/flatheads are biting real good. Mississippi River too, actually.

Have some friends who put in at Krotz Springs and did well last weekend. I may go later this week but did want to pass that info on.

I know most of you big wheels have fancy smancy rigs and like bass or the salt water fishing but do remember Hatch and some others who liked to throw out jug lines and fish the river. I also seem to remember some pics of SabanFan cooking up some catfish. Not sure where he caught them but sure, if asked, he'd say, "In the mouth."

Any additional river input/reports appreciated. If I do get to go I'll post pics...I WILL CATCH. :D

Bait is gettin so dam expensive. Buffalo/carp are .70c a piece. Five per line with 20 lines gets costly. I've been using bream I catch and keep in an aluminum cage. I hear that IS legal and I hear IT ISN'T. I do know it IS hard to keep them alive.

I use pond water (tap water left overnight failed me once) and I put jugs with frozen water in my live well. I only use jugs with threaded caps so the chlorinated water doesn't get into my water supply in the live well.

Definitely the best live bait for spotted cats in my experiences.
