Arizona State vs LSU game on ESPN Classic as we speak. Still love that fake punt on our first drive of the year. Good way to wake up on the Saturday before the season starts.
Three things stand out watching the game. #1. The gutsy call when Chris Jackson threw the ball on 4th down deep in our territory to Prude for a 1st down. #2. The number of drops our receivers had when a perfectly thrown JR pass hit them right in the hands. Make that three things that stand out. #3. Special teams play saved our bacon in the game. A blocked punt and a blocked field goal both returned for TDs.
Our defense couldn't stop AzSt. The defense got better as the season progressed, which was relieving. I imagine the first game of a coach's tenure is always one of the toughest and Katrina didn't help. And that fake punt was extremely startling. I didn't like it at first, but it grew on me.
I remember watching that game in the shelter.. it was late and with JR threw that TD we woke everyone up with our cheers.
I'm watching the last quarter and a half of the Texas - USC Rose Bowl game. Seeing the Condoms get beat never gets old :lol: It also reinforces that Jackson & Fouts were the biggest USC homers in the history of broadcasting. :angryfire
