Do you think he's an automatic lock at the starting job all year long? Certainly have zero complaints about Mauck but like many of us i'm very anxious to see what Russell or even Flynn can do.

I think hes the starter without question. The freshman move into the backup role in front of Randall and get some game experience in mop-up action next year.

As talented as the freshmen are it's hard to replace a proven winner. Mauck will never win the Heisman and he didn't have a great game in the Sugar Bowl but he just keeps winning. You don't replace someone that is winning football games just to have a better looking prospect on the field. If Mauck comes back it will be his position to lose. This was also Maucks FIRST full season as a starter, he should be better next year.

Mauck will be better next year. He will have numerous weapons at his disposal. Anybody else excited about an "improved" Justin Vincent next year? It's a scary proposition.

Too many receivers to list. An offensive coordinator who is learning to use the talent he has to make LSU an offensive power to be wreckoned with.

Where the hell are my shades? The future is too damn bright.

On the consideration of playing time for Russell or Flynn, I think you will see MORE playing time for the backup this year should Mauck stay. Especially early in the year, do not be surprised if Mauck is lifted early in the 3rd quarter, after maybe 1 or 2 series.

    FightinTIGER I agree with you.

islstl to say that Mauck will have a lot of weapons at his disposal is true but let's not forget that we are probably losing our 2 best receivers and we won't know how good these younger guys are REALLY going to be till we lace it up in the SEC.

Mauck reminds me of Ken Dorsey from Miami a couple years ago. Nothing special as far as talent goes, but he just won almost all the games he started. So much so, I think he was in the Heismann running his senior year, mainly because of his leadership and winning record. Mauck is a leader and a winner.

Mauck is the starter at QB untill he say's he is not. I would be thrilled to see him back for his senior year, yes the two younger guys have alot of upside, but they have never won a game at LSU
    and they are still Freshmen.
Sometimes people remind me of how SOME LSU fans wanted K. Faulk to leave so the runningbacks behind him would get more time with the ball.

I think you are correct about that but I just have an uneasy feeling about him not coming back for some reason. I pray he does and IMO he may be the most valuable player to ever perform at LSU in my lifetime due to the tremendous amount of competitive spirit, talent, leadership, blocking, character, etc. Just a feeling. Hope I'm wrong.

Well said. Nothing away from Flynn and JaMarcus, but when you have a proven winner at QB (Mauck), who's, what...19-2 as a starter? ...and has led the team to a National Title?!

If Mauck stays....he'll start next season. Surely no coach would reward a player of Mauck's accomplishments, and has passed up med school to stay on, by sitting him on the bench in favor of a Freshman QB.
