http://www.collegefootballnews.com/2005/Ask_CFN/Ask_CFN.htm ... USC, Texas, VT and either UGA or Alabama go undefeated? The question posed to Pete Fiutak. His answer: It will still be USC/Texas in the Rose Bowl. It is worrysome that we could easily have three, maybe four undefeateds again this year... more worrysome that I agree with Fiutak. I do think VT could jump Texas with a GT-Style win over Miami if Texas has a squeaker against either TT or A&M. I also don't think Ga or Bama have a prayer in hell of going undefeated, so to me it is a non-issue. For the record, VT is the second best team.
It's been said that in the Harris poll if Va tech and UT win out then Va tech will jump the horns for the NC game.
I buy that as well. I find it hard to believe that Texas can romp through the Big 12 and would win out just because they won a big road game (in week 1). Didn't USC beat V. Tech in a similar scenario the year they got left out?
Yes, that was last year. I will LAUGH uncontrollably when Texas gets snubbed this year. Maybe they can play Auburn in the broken-hear bowl.:hihi:
V-tech and Texas have the best chance of beating USC, in my opinion... the running QB is a wildcard that USC hasnt really seen this year, and I believe, won't see in the rest of their games...
Oh, I definitely think Va Tech can jump Texas. Why not? Both teams finished strong in 2005, both ranked highly in preseason polls. Don't forget the ACC has the conference title game this year, so both teams play 12 games apiece. Also, don't think Texas is in the clear if they beat OU. Texas Tech is, based on the noise their fans are making in these parts, chomping at the bit to get at UT. Barring an upset, Tech will be 6-0 and in the top 10 themselves when they go to Austin later this month.
